How to revert back to mail from new outlook
On windows 10, inside the the old Mail app I accidentally clicked the try new outlook toggle and ended up in the new outlook app. I tried it, it required adding of all my emails accounts again. Some I have already lost access due to lost of password but the old email was still accessible in the old Mail app. I tried to toggle it off to return to the old Mail App but after I clicked it, opening the old mail app still opens the new outlook. Now I essentially lost a bunch of my old emails.

Windows is no longer letting me revert back to MS Mail. The new outlook is unacceptable.
Any recommendations for other email clients with a unified inbox?
Please help.

damnwindows I used the toggle in Outlook to return to original outlook, but all I can get are my emails from before 11/8/2023, which is when I switched to New Outlook. When I switched, it switched my outlook email to my google email, rather than my mail from xfinity. I just quit using it, but then thought I'd try to fix it. Clicking the toggle was easy, but now I don't know how to get my mail into Outlook. I don't know if that makes sense but when I try to download email, nothing new comes in. Help!

It's just happened to me again. Microshyte decided to change my client to outlook for the second time without my permission. Luckily AndyTpc's solution worked yet again.

Not sure why so many are going through such convoluted processes to solve this. It's happened to me several times and all that was needed to revert was to uninstall the Outlook app. If you try to access Mail right away it will error but after only a few minutes it just starts working again.
Note: I'm NOT talking about old and new Outlook. Just Mail, when MS seemingly sneaks Outlook in on us when we're not keeping a sharp eye on everything.

new Outlook for Windows for admins updated news (microsoft.com)
You will have to get used to the new Outlook for Windows = as the default mail application.
- cadence022Copper ContributorNo, technically they don't have to get used to anything they don't want to. technically anyone can find a better less crappy email program. and most probably will.

As you noted, once you agree to "try" new Outlook, whenever you try to open Microsoft "Mail and Calendar", it will redirect to Outlook 365 instead. I don't claim to be an expert and there may be better options, but one way to make Microsoft Mail and Calendar revert to it's normal behaviour, is to go into "Apps & features" (Start -> Settings -> Apps), then scroll down & click on "Mail and Calendar", then an "Advanced Options" link should appear. Click on that, then scroll down & click the "Reset" button (just above "Uninstall"). You'll need to configure your email again but at least "Mail and Calendar" will then run rather than redirecting to Outlook.
If you choose to revert to Microsoft "Mail and Calendar", you may also wish to uninstall Outlook 365 (you can also do that through "Apps & features").

The worse part is it does not support Exchange Active Sync with On-Premise Exchange accounts. I have 8 accounts on Windows Mail with an EAS connection to Exchange. Cannot use these accounts with the new Outlook. I will have to use Outlook Web App for everything.

-Type "Programs" in the search bar and choose "Add or remove programs"
-Uninstall outlook
-It took about 4 tries to open the Mail app but it did revert to the old style.

damnwindows go to apps -->installed apps and uninstall outlook then restart your computer
Hope this helps.
- Raelene365Copper Contributorwere you able to find old emails saved? thanks
- BEH_100Copper ContributorI was able to uninstall the new app. Click on the old one, wait, wait a little longer. Try opening the old one again. Eventually, this worked. I do not understand why we have to do this. Microsoft keeps updating my programs and making them less functional and changing the setting to send themselves data.

Okey, so I could not see the new Outlook toggle anymore in the new mail app and I clicked on the Calendar app on the left side of the screen and the New Outlook toggle showed-up on the new calendar.
I clicked the toggle and WOW the Classic mail was back!!!

P.S. I DID NOT click on anything in the calendar concerned that it also might make the toggle disappear,
I just reversed the toggle...
