How do I turn off Copilot in Word documents?
I don't need Copilot in my word documents and I don't need the copilot icon stalking me on every page when I begin to type. Its very distracting. How do I disable Copilot?

Same for me. Have you solved this yet?

so far, the only means I've found is to use gpedit.msc (with admin privilege). This approach appears to be available for global purposes.
Local Computer Policy/User Configuration/Windows Components/Windows Copilot/Turn off Windows Copilot/ and enable this policy.
"This policy setting allows you to turn off Windows Copilot.
If you enable this policy setting, users will not be able to use Copilot. The Copilot icon will not appear on the taskbar either.
If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users will be able to use Copilot when it's available to them. "
good luck

File > Options > Copilot > Uncheck "Enable Copilot" > OK

update: Appears the controls have been moved:
Word > Preferences > Authoring and Proofing Tools > Copilot > check to unenable

That disables Copilot altogether, what we want is to disable tiny copilot icon popup in the left margin… a'la disabling the tiny comments icon in the right margin.

No Copilot option under File > Options...

There WAS an entry for Copilot but only for its auto generated summaries that those are collapsed by default. There is NO Option to disable it competely! (And it is rather infuriating)...
So glad I really don't use Microschrott Word for anything as I have other - far better tools to use for basic stuff...
