Old archive data

Copper Contributor

Hi,

We have email archive data around 4 TB, we want to dump it somewhere such that whenever require we can provide access of that to specific user. Can anyone suggest on what is the recommended method where to store this data?How much it will cost?

Without knowing what the data is, who will need access and at what cadence, it's very hard to give you any specific guidance - those are all questions you should have an answer to before committing to a solution. Office 365 does offer "Unlimited" archiving so you can potentially dump all of it in a single mailbox, or you can spread it across multiple mailboxes. And there's also the question of getting the data there, are you looking for a free solution or willing to pay some $$$ for better experience, etc?

This is mail data in the form of .PST of deleted users. We need to keep this for compliance purpose for 7 years. If require in future we will provide access of some pst files to some users. So is there any place where we can keep this data? Specify both paid and free solution.

@null null Hi Null Null,

The place to put those PST's is into mailboxes in your EXO tenant using the PST upload tool in Security & Compliance Center.  If you have O365/M365 E3 licenses, assign one to the mailbox(es) where you import the PST's into, then apply either litigation hold or an O365 retention policy to these mailboxes.  Then delete the Azure AD account (if it's a synced AD account, remove it from sync-scope).  This will give you back the E3 license(s) and convert the mailbox(es) to Inactive Mailbox(es) which are invisible to other users, free of any costs, and are available for Content Searches and eDiscovery searches (both from SC&C).
