IMAP Migration does not sync all messages

Hi, I am having a weird issue with an IMAP migration. I have a user that has a couple of messages in the source inbox that are not being migrated when syncing to Exchange Online. But the success report states that all messages have been synced. I checked Outlook as well as Outlook Online and both show the same result. The messages that should be synced are not shown. These messages are from the last few months.
Anyone has any idea why these messages are not visible in Outlook (Online)?

Starting with the basics; have you examined the user's recoverable items to check if they have inadvertantly deleted the items in question (perhaps using a rule?)
