Searching for two things at once in excel.
This is an example of how the actual data was given to me.
The real data is not something I can show online but the table to the right is how id like to find the cells. The actual data has thousands of rows so you can see why i'd like to hunt the data in a more automated way!
Dear Matthew Whalband,
Enter the below formula in H5, and paste it in the table.
=CHOOSE(COUNTIFS($A$3:$A$12,$G5,$B$3:$B$12,H$4)+1,"-","Yes")
If there is a possiblity of more than 1 occurance of the combination of User and Thing, then use the below formula in H5.
=CHOOSE(MIN(COUNTIFS($A$3:$A$12,$G5,$B$3:$B$12,H$4),1)+1,"-","Yes")
Do let me know if this solves your problem, or if any clarifications are required.

That worked brilliantly. I dont think I will ever understand what the formula actually means but it definitely helps me understand what this data means!
