Linking Sheets

The document in question is a living document, is based on the entries of 2 other documents. I figured out how to link one cell of data to another in a different excel file so it can update as we update the other two documents, but I am hoping there might be an easier way to bring a column of data based on one linked cell. Is this possible?

It’s possible to link entire columns of data between different Excel files, making your document more dynamic and responsive to changes in the source documents.

Here's how you can do it:

    1. Open Both Excel Files: Open both the source Excel file containing the data you want to link from and the destination Excel file where you want to display the linked data.
    2. Select the Source Data: In the source Excel file, select the entire column of data that you want to link to the destination file. You can do this by clicking on the column letter at the top of the column.
    3. Copy the Data: Press Ctrl + C or right-click and select "Copy" to copy the selected column of data.
    4. Navigate to the Destination File: Switch to the destination Excel file where you want to paste the linked data.
    5. Select the Destination Cell: Select the cell in the destination file where you want the linked data to begin. This could be the same column or a different column from where the data originated.
    6. Paste Special - Link: Right-click on the selected cell and choose "Paste Special" from the context menu. Then, select "Paste Link" from the Paste Special options. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut Ctrl + Alt + V, followed by V (for Paste Link).
    7. Confirm and Adjust: After pasting the linked data, confirm that the links are working correctly. You should see the data from the source column displayed in the destination column. If you update the source data in the source Excel file, the changes should automatically reflect in the destination Excel file.

By linking entire columns of data between Excel files, you can create dynamic connections that update automatically whenever changes are made to the source data. This can be particularly useful for creating summary reports or dashboards that pull in data from multiple sources while ensuring accuracy and consistency across documents. Advanced features or compatibility issues might vary between different versions, so it's worth testing the functionality in your specific environment to ensure it meets your needs.
