Issues with bar graphs

I have a .xlsm file that contains a bar chart followed by a table heading which will be filled with data to be used by the chart. The issue I’m having is that if I add a blank line for extra data either above or below the chart, the width of the bars in the chart become narrower even though it uses the same data. Why would this happen?

    Could be because the chart data range covers the area you were trying to add extra lines, so that excel might think that extra line you added was part of the chart too.
