Formula for a difference

I have a pre and post survey which participants score 1 through 5. I want a formula to  calculate the difference from pre and post.  Answer could be + or -.

Example Pre = 3 Post =4 , Difference is 1

               Pre = 3 Post = 2  Difference is -1

    Let's say pre score is in D2 and down, and post score in E2 and down.

    In another column enter the formula =E2-D2 in row 2, then fill down.
