Announcing buttons for Office Scripts: Run scripts with a workbook button

I have Business Standard Plan But can't seems to find the 'Add Button' not in the web version or the desktop version what could be the reason.

Hello NancyatMSFT I am changing a Excel-Sheet from using in a file share to be used in sharepoint. I replaced the VBA-Code and Buttons by "office script" and by buttons which are "connected" to the script. The script is stored in SP. Now the users are able to collaborate online and nearly just in time. The users are not lucky with this solution because it takes a very long time until the script is loaded and executed. When the script is executed directy with the run button 

 it runs very quick.

Is there a possibilty to reduce the loading time of the script?

That might make a difference.  Last year I was tasked to evaluate 365 on-line for communicating a statistics-based dashboard which was animated through the use of VBA event handlers.  My report was that 365 on-line was utterly useless for that purpose.  Solution development was also a problem because of the lack of Name Manager functionality.  I no longer have access to a corporate license but I assume either the button to run a 'define name' script or even the AFE could be used?

HI NancyatMSFT, thanks for your fast reply. Just to be clear I'm very happy of this feature I just hope that this is the first step and the fact that Sctipts are now available also on Windows I think is as step in that direction. Very Good.

What I meant was that today, if i need to develop something running on mobile (with a practical interface) whose functionality is based on data (or worst on shared data) I have to create a web page or a dedicated app and write code for data managing . There are an infinite number of "simple" application that don't worth such effort.

Some stupid examples: Manage the table reservation at restaurant from many source at the same time; Register the working hour on different projects. Prepare and test with that some operators need to fulfill. Record the feedings of a baby. In my company canteen they register the number of customers with a mechanical counter . Some years ago I wrote a simple web page that me and my wife used to select the name of my baby (I had to use PHP, SQL, Javascript, and some sleeping hours for such a stupid purpose ‌‌)

Said more easily: a huge percentage of the apps now available can be substitute with excel running scripts, doing it better (because you can adapt a workbook to your specific needs) and without sharing your data with someone else, just need OneDrive. With this, I think that Microsoft would hit the jackpot

I waited this feature for long time, I tested it and it works, but it is not really useful for me if is not available also in mobile apps (at least in execution mode) and desktop application.

ok, we have the button. upon testing we noticed that the right banner is constantly popping up saying that the script is loaded. is there a way to dismiss the message and just run the buttons without that banner?. (it uses precious space on a small screen).

and I can confirm that my coworkers on E1 license cant run my script buttons. 😞  its just a rectangle figure on the spreadsheet. would be awesome if they could use them...

mtallavajjula Hi AJ - I apologize for the delay in response on our end! As of today the add button feature should be available to everyone with a corporate account. Please let me know if you don't see it!

Hi, I was wondering if embedding office scripts in a document is on the roadmap?

As in, if I send the file to a client, they receive the code and are able to run it locally, much like VBA (this obviously depends on being able to run it in the desktop app in the first place).

Or will Office scripts forever remain tied to OneDrive/SharePoint?

Don't yet see this option available. I am using my corporate account, and I see all the other options except the Add Button feature. Kindly provide guidance. Is there anything I will need to enable on my end for this?
