Stream HDR Edge Insider

Copper Contributor

Today I switched to edge insider after using beta. I saw that it replaced my old version of edge, which made me excited to see if Stream HDR worked on it (The stream HDR function is designed to work with preinstalled applications and microsoft store applications. As this replaced replaced my old version of edge, I had cause to believe that it would also have stream HDR support). However, I went to youtube to look watch test videos in HDR (ones that supplied stream HDR support with the old version of edge) and youtube did not provide HDR streaming with Edge Insider. It is possible this is just a youtube issue, anyone use any other websites to test HDR streaming?

Note: yes HDR streaming is turned on in 'windows HD color settings' and yes 'don't allow hdr streaming on battery' is turned off (doesn't matter since I am testing it while plugged in.

Hi,
can you go to Windows settings => System => Display => Windows HD color settings and post the screenshot of that page in here?

@HotCakeX   Things are a little cut off but this should be adequate.

There should be a hdr option but in this case there isn't.

can you use HDR youtube on google chrome or firefox?

@HotCakeX No. I am using Window's "Stream HDR" functionality ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4040547 ) on my laptop['s built in screen], which (as far as I am aware ) is only available on apps that come with windows 10 or are available in the microsoft store ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4038608 ) ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4040255/windows-10-stream-hdr-video ). It is not a typical hdr supported display but one that satisfies the requirements listed [for windows 10 version 1803 and later] here : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4040547

This functionality had worked in the previous stock version of edge, but when I went to the newer (chromium-based) version of edge , it had replaced my older version of edge and does not have the functionality of the older version.

Any ideas?

So it could probably be only utilized by UWP apps.
