Microsoft Edge -- open a new tab in
This morning Microsoft Edge updated my Microsoft Edge browser. Now when I try to open a new tab, clicking on the +, instead of opening a new tab, it closes the browser.
I am using Microsoft latest version, 11

- bgt277Copper ContributorAs of Wednesday morning, looks like the bug has been fixed by Microsoft..
Thanks for all the supporting comments - Chessie6057Copper ContributorJust got home and it seems to be working correctly for now! It was happening earlier today even with control + âTâ. I did clear unneeded items from the quick link favorites bar under the address bar earlier. Not sure if that is what fixed it or not.

See my comment below for the fix that worked for me.
- tcluk624Copper ContributorCould you please provide more detail, i am not so sure which part you are pointing to fix
- IDforMSTechBoardsCopper ContributorI went to Edge's Settings, then "Start, home, and new tabs," then "Home button" to eliminate the url entered there and click on the "New tab page" button instead.
- hansleroyIron ContributorHi, Looks like an issue with the content that is supposed to display when opening creating the new tab. 1/ Can you create a new tab with Ctrl+T ? 2/ Is there anything strange under edge://settings/startHomeNTP Kind regards Hans

This worked for me. Under "Home button" there was some garbage site address. I switched it to "New tab page" and now things seem fine.
Thanks!
- Frits_van_LeeuwenCopper ContributorI use also MS Windows 11. And I have this issue too. When I click on the [+] for a new tab, MS Edge will close. When I use a link what opens a new tab, That will work,

I don't think I did anything, but it seems to be working fine again. What I have done that might be the solution is drag a tab I have open so I get a new amplifier.
- Chessie6057Copper ContributorSo mine has been intermittently working since last night, then this AM back to being buggy. Also noticed that it happens when you right click the tab and choose add tab to right. So far I have not had any issues with my work around I mentioned earlier.
- tcluk624Copper ContributorI have found a workaround until they fix this bug... is to use vertical tabs!

Yes, I am also encountering this as well... even if there is nothing to load in the tab, just keep pressing the [+] button next to the current tab and it will crash and close the browser.

I have had the same problem since the update.
