Dev channel update to 102.0.1220.1 is live
Hello Insiders! Today we’re releasing build 102.0.1220.1 to the Dev channel. It’s a bit of a smaller week this week, but before we get into it, we’ve got a nice explainer about retrieving source maps with the F12 Dev Tools. You can read all about it here: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2022/04/12/retrieve-source-maps-securely-in-production-in-microsoft-edge-devtools/. As for what’s new and noteworthy:
Added features:
- Added a prompt to pin PWAs after they’ve been installed from the Microsoft Store.
- Redesigned the Apps management page.
- Added the ability to import passwords on mobile.
- Added a management policy to control if the Outlook Hub Menu is Enabled. Note that updates to documentation and administrative templates may not have occurred yet.
Improved reliability:
- Fixed a crash when using 2-factor authentication to sign into the browser.
- Fixed a crash on Android.
- Fixed a crash on Android when using the search widget.
Changed behavior:
- Fixed an issue where the tab bar sometimes disappears.
- Fixed an issue where the Setting to use a custom Secure DNS provider doesn’t work.
- Fixed an issue where the Find bar shows 0 matches even though there are related matches shown on the page.
- Fixed an issue where the window control buttons are sometimes invisible when certain themes are applied.
- Fixed an issue where background tabs are sometimes invisible when certain themes are applied.
- Fixed an issue on mobile where signing into the browser fails.
- Fixed an issue in WebView2 apps where URL fragments are sometimes inadvertently removed during a navigation redirection.
- Disabled Kids Mode in Application Guard windows.
Known issues:
- Users of certain ad blocking extensions may experience playback errors on YouTube. As a workaround, temporarily disabling the extension should allow playback to proceed. See this help article for more details.
- Some users are still running into an issue where all tabs and extensions immediately crash with a STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH error. The most common cause of this error is outdated security or antivirus software from vendors like Symantec, and in those cases, updating that software will fix it.
- Users of the Kaspersky Internet Suite who have the associated extension installed may sometimes see webpages like Gmail fail to load. This failure is due to the main Kaspersky software being out of date, and is thus fixed by making sure the latest version is installed.
- Some users are seeing “wobbling” behavior when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touchscreens, where scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to subtly scroll back and forth in the other. Note that this only affects certain websites and seems to be worse on certain devices. This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy’s behavior, so if this behavior is undesirable, you can temporarily turn it off by disabling the edge://flags/#edge-experimental-scrolling flag.
For our Beta users, make sure you’ve updated to version 101 if you haven’t yet!

Hi Josh, thanks for new version.
This news sound good "Fixed a crash when using 2-factor authentication to sign into the browser. "But it still crashes in the moment I approve login in 2FA 😉
I have submitted crash report, but cannot post it's ID, crash page does not show IDs anymore- janvnCopper Contributor
I have the same; still crashing when trying to login (2FA).
- ZacWBrass ContributorSame here, crash when signing in with 2fa.

josh_bodner Josh, is there any info on why the official Microsoft Edge Dev Twitter account stopped tweeting about weekly Dev releases? It was an extremely convenient way to follow the updates and write about them (I cover browser updates at Neowin).

I hoped this release would fix the problem I have on one of my PCs:
- I'm unable to show the Apps button on the toolbar, the corresponding toggle is missing on the Apps page (see screenshot 1)
- the Apps page appears as plain page when I select it from the ... menu instead of as a fly-out
This is the Apps page as it appears on this PC:
On my other PC, the Apps page has an additional toggle to show the Apps button:

PLEASE. please for the love of god, edge will be *perfect* if i can just hide this icon.
WHY is it visible, why is it present, making it harder to tap on my top tab and serving absolutely no purpose as I would never turn off vertical tabs, they are the single best feature of edge.
and why does the setting to make it go away simply not do anything?!
PS. youve broken settings search, just results in a blank page now:

I confirm.

Would be nice to get a keyboard shortcut for "Move tab to new window".
I use this function frequently, and so do many others probably. - elkropacBrass ContributorHi Josh,
just tried to upgrade to 102.0.1224.0-1 and edge does not start properly - it show black window only. I'm on debian linux unstable with KDE/Plasma 5.24, integrated intel graphics card - DavidhfzCopper ContributorPlease!! Fixed an issue where the Setting to use a custom Secure DNS provider doesn’t work. Bring this fix to stable ASAP!!!
- DavidhfzCopper ContributorFixed an issue where the Setting to use a custom Secure DNS provider doesn’t work. It's now working on stable version. Thank you!
