Add Extension Support for Android version of Edge browser
It's possible, there are browsers like Kiwi that support it. would be great if Microsoft Edge did the same and allowed our extensions used in desktop to be used on Android phones and tablets too.
of course this needs to be considered in the process of revamping the current Edge Android version and swapping its engines.
Hi HotCakeX, this is a great suggestion. I will make sure that the team that does our mobile browsers see it. Thanks - Elliot

Elliot Kirk I've never seen this feedback/suggestion appeared on any feedback summary post.
I'm a bit worry about the team didn't take this serious.
For users with highly customization needs, add extension support for Android/IOS is most important.
Despite Firefox for Android can do that, Chromium is better at performance. If Edge based on chromium can satisfy users with performance, sync and extension for all major platform like Windows, MacOS and Android/IOS.
I think I will definitely choose Edge for my idiomatic browser.
- Thanks for the support
- Thank you, that's all I was hoping for 🙂
- mcaransCopper ContributorThis is the feature I need to switch from Chrome. The only reason I don't use other browsers that have it like Kiwi is because I need inline translation. Only Chrome and Edge do translation well. If Edge had extensions (ideally including Chrome extensions), it would have the... edge!
Once Chromium Edge comes to Linux, I'd then be in a position to switch on my laptop as well which is presumably what MS is trying to achieve in making Edge fully cross platform. For Inline translation, you can use Google translate app on Android which has an overlay or even tap to translate feature, works on all apps, not only on browsers.

- yuminchBrass Contributor+1 for this feature request!
The only thing that keeps me on Firefox for Android is that it allows custom extensions, and I need Tampermonkey to for running custom user scripts.- AqeroCopper Contributor
In the past 2 years I switched from the following browsers in my quest to find the perfect one 🙂
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Brave
If Edge will ever support extensions in Android I will switch again in a heartbeat to Edge.
- Firefox is the most decent choice in that list
1. it has extension support on mobile
2. it's not connected to Google ecosystem.

good idea

HotCakeX Current state of Web is just filled with transparent layer redirects and uBlock is very valuable to me, which is why I cannot switch away from Kiwi Browser. If MS Edge android got extensions support, it would be a huge advantage over other android browsers.
Also given Microsoft has better reputation for privacy compared to chinese "extension-enabled" browsers, The user base would really expand.- That's so true!
- hussain5416Steel ContributorI really hope this one gets implemented. Specially since kiwi is open source now.
- Well we need to hear something from the developers about this or see this being added to the top feedback list
- cupcakezealotBrass ContributorLooks like it's really happening! 🙂
https://www.xda-developers.com/microsoft-edge-extension-support-android/- Yes, now in the Dev channel I think, can't wait to use it on beta/stable builds, this is truly game changing and something I'm pretty sure Chrome will never get since they don't like adblockers 🙂
- binocryCopper Contributorso any update from edge team about extension support? i need ublock origin and dark reader..
- DavidGBSteel Contributor
+1 on the need for Dark Reader extension in Android Edge. Or have what Android Chrome has - flag setting that adds a 'darken websites' option below the Dark Theme radio button.in Settings>Themes.
- binocryCopper ContributorOr give us installed extension like edge for Android rn, but put in one menu example: Addons. Because its now somewhat messy, spread in settings. And I do not like Adblock Plus because it eats in CPU and RAM and do not like Acceptable Ads BS
- DeletedOh, good thread,
I use kiwi on android because of extension support, and support for external download manager, and tbh kiwi is much much faster than any of the browsers out there I tried.
I use edge chromium as my default browser on my desktop. Main problem I got is sync, and that's really a big problem. I would happily switch to edge android if they add extension & ext. download manager support in their browser.
For that time being, If anyone knows any workaround to tackle this sync problem,???- The sync issues for favorites are fixed in Dev and Canary
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/top-feedback-summary-for-march-4/m-p/1209808- DeletedYou misunderstood, I was talking about syncing between edge chromium on desktop & kiwi on android. they don't sync because they are completely different browsers. But I wanna know if there is any workaround except for export and import.

HotCakeX I 100% agree. Man It's almost like no one is behind the wheel here at Microsoft. Maybe however, they have some master plan so complicated and advanced in its implementation that they are playing 9 chess moves ahead. Unfortunately we've been playing air hockey this whole time and google has just about sealed the victory away.
Here is one area where you (Microsoft) could offer a clear and distinct advantage over chrome, add extension support.
The fact that this has not already happened is honestly disappointing and frustrating.
I 100% do not believe Microsoft has a complete/coherent vision to unify it.
Why even have edge for mobile if you didn't intend for it to be the best, And if it is intended to be the best browser for mobile, then why not give it something to set it ahead of the competition? I generally don't understand the reasoning here? I'm honestly concerned with Google's near monopoly of the internet, and I would love to be able to point people toward edge, but what does it do better than chrome, it does things differently, that may be subjectively better but what does it do that is objectively better?
Also I'd like to say I'm a fan of Microsoft. And I want to use the edge browser I just also want it to be a better browser.
- Maurog1987Copper ContributorEspecially now that Firefox has removed this feature from its last mobile release and chrome has never had such feature on mobile, it could be very beneficial to increase Edge's popularity and base of users!
