Top Feedback Summary for March 4

Microsoft

Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.

Good day, Insiders! We have a couple updates this week, including a new way we’re going to focus on our Addressed items going forward. Let’s get to it!

First up, we have a new item being added! Allow more top sites on the New Tab Page is already Planned, and we’re excited to provide updates to you all around this.

As mentioned last week, we have an update to the Favorites sync issue. This is now resolved in Dev and Canary builds, which means it means the criteria for us to mark it as Addressed in this list. However, if you are using the Beta or Stable builds and syncing your favorites through those to Dev or Canary, there is a chance you will continue to see the issues listed. This is expected until the fix is pushed through to those builds. If you are experiencing favorites syncing issues in Dev and Canary and are not using a Beta or Stable build, please submit feedback through the browser so the team can investigate. Thanks so much to everyone who provided feedback around this so that the team could fully investigate and address these syncing issues!

Lastly, we’re going to make some changes to this post, but feel that it’s important to do. Our list for Addressed items is growing, and we’ve noticed that it makes this summary post pretty long to get through. Based on that, we’re going to be posting a separate, “evergreen” forum thread that is updated with the items we mark addressed from this list. We will have the list at the bottom of this post today but expect to see a new post around addressed top feedback later this week. We will link to that post in these posts in the future, but are curious where you feel it should be located. We’re thinking of putting it right after these updates, before the list below, or linked in the Definition of what Addressed means. Have thoughts? Please leave a note telling us where you think that link will fit best!

Here’s our updated list this week:

@MissyQ

Great updates, thank you! I'm really happy to see Favorite issues are fixed now and hopefully they will stay that way.

I have an idea for the addressed Items,

put them in a spoiler

like this

Spoiler

 Spoiler example

once the spoiler gets too big, you add another spoiler right below it. this way you don't need to create separate posts under this and can manage space in a smart way

@HotCakeX Ooh, thanks for this idea. I just edited my OP to see how it looks. What do you think?

I'm not sure I'd go this route just yet, but I love the outside-the-box thinking! (Would it be inside the box since the spoiler tag puts it in one?)

Curious how others feel about this. I'll leave it like this for now to see how people like it. :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

(Edit: I'm leaving my broken smileys like that as a punishment to my post.)

it looks great to me, it's on the Edge of the box :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

by the way you can make nested spoilers like this

@HotCakeX :xd: I kept clicking to see how many boxes you did that with. This made my day, thank you.

Haha anytime

I wonder what's the nesting limit though

[we interrupt this great conversation :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: with a feature request]

@MissyQ Please add synchronization of Custom Searches on the to-do list. The sync engine shouldn't be that different from Favorites Sync right? It seems like the next logical step in synchronizing all custom user settings.

Hey @MissyQ!

Are there any plans to "allow sign in while running the browser as an administrator"?

Thank you!

Reasons mentioned here:

also number of likes doesn't mean anything

It's really important. because no one can sign in Edge browser in Windows Sandbox or Windows Server and similar situations where user is signed in as built in Administrator.

de-elevate flag doesn't even work.

@ViniciusFonseca No plans that I am aware of, but I know the team has heard this feedback. Please submit this feedback with diagnostics and explain exactly how you would be using this feature. It's really helpful when the team sees what exactly it's used for so they have a true understanding in how users are using the browser. :)
