Azure Database for MySQL - Flexible Server accelerated logs (Preview)

We're excited to announce public preview of the accelerated logs feature for Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server! This functionality, available with the Business Critical service tier, significantly enhances the performance of MySQL flexible servers, offering a dynamic solution that is designed for high throughput needs that also reduces latency and optimizes cost efficiency. This innovative feature enables your Azure Database for MySQL - Flexible Server workloads to seamlessly adjust to mission critical workloads. 

 

Key benefits

Key benefits associated with using the accelerated logs feature include:

  • Enhanced performance. The accelerated logs feature, available with the Business Critical service tier and designed for mission-critical workloads, provides a significant performance boost by minimizing latency, which results in faster query execution and more responsive interactions. Take advantage of an impressive increase in throughput of up to two times (2x) for your applications running on MySQL - Flexible Server instances based on the Business Critical service tier.
  • Seamless integration. The accelerated logs feature seamlessly integrates with your Azure Database for MySQL flexible server without requiring any changes to your applications.
  • Cost optimization. The accelerated logs feature is offered at no extra cost, providing a cost-effective solution for enhancing performance without incurring additional expenses.
  • Available for open-source community versions. Enjoy the performance benefits on open-source MySQL versions 5.7 and 8.0 for Azure Database for MySQL flexible servers based on the Business Critical service tier.

 

Enabling the accelerated logs feature

To enable the accelerated logs feature, perform the following steps.

  1. In the Azure portal, navigate your instance of Azure Database for MySQL - Flexible Server.
  2. On the Settings tab, select Compute + Storage.
  3. On the Compute + Storage page, select the Accelerated Logs checkbox, and then select Save.

After the deployment completes and the server restarts successfully, you’re ready to take advantage of this feature.
