Access does not respond when creating a query

When I create a new query Access asks what type.

I select a simple query.

When I press enter access does nothing.

A Spinning circle appears.

Eventually it tells me Access is not responding.

Unfortunately, that sounds like it could be a problem with the Query Wizard in your installation of Access, or it could be a problem with available tables in the specific accdb, or it could be something else.

You didn't indicate whether this is a new problem appearing after you've worked with a specific accdb for some time, or if it's the first time you tried to create any query in any Access accdb. That makes some difference in identifying potential problems.

Let's start with a simple test. Does this happen in any accdb? Or only in one specific accdb? That would tell us, for example, if the accdb is somehow corrupted or something, or if the problem is in your installation of Access itself.

Once you've determined that, we should look at the tables. Do you HAVE tables set up? I assume so, but we like to cover all the bases.

If the problem appears to be in the Access installation, the next trouble-shooting step is to repair it, or reinstall it.

Try those things and let us know how it turns out, and also more details about the environment (new problem after working for some time or first time use of Access raising the problem).

It would not hurt to tell us the version of Access you are using as well.

A client has the same issue that just showed last week. Access goes not responding when using the Query Wizard and picking simple query. I've tried on 4 machine with 3 different databases and all have the same issue. They all have Office 365 Access 15427.20210 or 15437.20194. I tried all three databases on an old machine the has Office 2013 Pro installed and they work fine. Seems like maybe an Office 365 update broke this feature?

The problem appears in one specific database but not in another one I use.  It is a NEW problem.

      The version is Professional 2021.

There are 3 tables -- one member master and two subsidiaries.

Have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
