We just announced 20 million daily active users for Microsoft Teams worldwide. This a big milestone, not just because of the number of people benefiting from Teams, but because of the IT advocates that have been with us throughout this journey, marking a turning point for Teams adoption in the enterprise. There’s a good reason for this. Microsoft Teams helps bring people together with chat, meetings, calls, apps, and the security of M365 in one place. By design, Teams is built on top of a mature and secure collaboration foundation backed by SharePoint, OneDrive and Exchange Online, to deliver the hub for teamwork.

As an IT professional, we know you care about productivity, manageability and security, and we want you to have control over how Teams is configured for your organization. This means not only meeting your security, compliance, and day-to-day operational needs, but being able to manage and customize communication preferences. As an example, you can enable or disable the use of popular giphys, or decide if guest participants can leverage screen-sharing.

Today we are launching a brand-new series on Microsoft Mechanics called: Microsoft Teams for IT. We built this for you, the IT Admin, in order to help you navigate through the various decision points you will encounter while assessing, deploying, or scaling Teams. Our goal is to get you up to speed on the latest capabilities for manageability, security, and compliance, and to share efficient ways to accelerate user adoption while minimizing helpdesk calls.

The series: Microsoft Teams for IT

Over the next few months, we’ll chronicle step-by-step guidance on how to implement Microsoft Teams. The first two episodes in our series offer an overview of Teams for IT admins in a Microsoft Essentials video including your configuration options and guiding you through important considerations to plan, deploy, and roll-out Teams. This is accompanied by hands-on demonstrations of our new Deployment Advisor, as well as the foundational policies for configuring Teams. The full series comprises additional Microsoft Essentials overviews and hands-on demonstrations for security and compliance, Skype for Business to Teams migration, and user adoption. You can follow the series on our playlist at aka.ms/MicrosoftTeamsforIT, and connect with us here on the tech community, or on LinkedIn, and @MSFTMechanics.

We hope that you find the series helpful. Of course, please give us your feedback and let us know if there are any specific things that you’d like us to cover in the future.

And, for those of you in the US, have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
