This time I used 20 pages with the same extensions. (links at the end of this post)
Edge Canary Version 79.0.280.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit)
Chrome Canary Version 79.0.3921.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit)
Chromium Version 79.0.3922.0 (Developer Build) (64-bit)
Chrome "Official" Version 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I run each browser separately.
This picture shows the results in the Task Manager after opening each browser and after clicking each page to refresh them:

Unlike the previous 10 tab test (here), all browsers consumed basically the same amount of memory after each tab has its content updated, but Edge-Chromium uses more RAM when opening.

All browsers using the same extensions with same configurations (except Chromium* )
- uBlock Origin
- Google Arts & Culture

- Grammarly
* I couldn't install extensions in Chromium
My PC:
Windows 10 Build 1903 (build 18362.295)
16GB Ram
As I am not taking a test by following the strict rules that specialized websites usually do, these values should not be considered as definitely correct.
It would be interesting if more people would perform this test on their computers using the same websites I used to check if they get different values.

I've done a few more tests, with different page amounts (5, 10, 15, 20), and the impression I'm getting is that Chrome Canary is a little bit better than Edge-Chromium Canary right now regarding RAM consumption.
I estimate* (in my tests) around 10% to 20% less memory usage on Chrome Canary than on Edge-Chromium Canary. This is a huge quality advance for Google Chrome (the memory eater**).
However, everything may change in the next versions, as we are dealing with Canary versions.
* For example, in the test with 5 open pages, Google Chrome Canary consumed around 900MB and Edge-Chromium Canary 1100MB. This means about 20% less memory consumption in Chrome than in Edge. But this value changed as I used more pages, but always around 10% to 20%.

@Deleted Thanks for doing all the systematic analysis. We've discussed this a number of times in this forum.
Chromium-based browsers are notorious memory hogs, but Edge Chromium seems to be worse than the norm.
Microsoft is aware of the related CPU-use issue and is apparently working on it (see, for example, Top Feedback Summary for September 17:(
That's well and good, but memory hogging is also an issue.
I routinely find myself using 2-3gb RAM after I've used Edge Chromium for a few hours. I hope Microsoft solves this. It doesn't make too much difference on my desktop (16gb RAM) but high (and seemingly escalating as tabs open and close) memory use plays havoc with lower-end (e.g. 4gb RAM) laptops.
In any event, thanks for the work.

@Deleted Very nice testing indeed. It gives a good comparison between all the Chrome type browsers to Edge.
