Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac - Copy and paste works a while then fails
Using Mac OS X 12.6.8 and Remote Desktop 10.9.2. Beginning two versions back (10.9.0?), copy and paste works for a while after launching RD, but it eventually fails when copying from the remote machine to the local Mac. The failure manifests as a spinning beach ball in the application I'm pasting into. The paste operation eventually times out, but the quickest way to recover is to quit Remote Desktop and start the whole operation over again with the copy.

That's very interesting and that's probably why copying from TextPad works.
I'll and install the fonts and see if that works.
Is it not possible to get this fixed at all permanently?

Interesting. SSMS uses Consolas (at least my configuration). I expected this to be a standard font on Mac as well. Just installed it - I will report back in a few weeks.

I've been dealing with this daily for over a year. I just found something in a post from 2022 that said it appears that the system is trying to send font information over with the copy/paste. If you change the font that SSMS (or whatever program you are copying in) is using to something that exists on your Mac, the problem should go away. You could also install the missing font on your Mac.
I've noticed that when the pinwheel comes up, if I go back to the source and copy it again, when the hang-up is over it actually pastes the data. If I don't copy it again, I get an error message.

This is still happening.
But what I have realised is that pasting the copied content first on to TextPad and then copying the content from TextPad never fails (make sure you're using the ⌘+c and ⌘+v).
Hopefully you should not get the beachball of death.
So it must be application related rather than Remote Desktop.

Same issue. I average probably 2-3 hours per day on RD with frequent copies in/out of the client. I've had it happen when copying from RD to Chrome and Sublime. Today, I have gotten the beachball of death 4 times. MacBook Pro M3, everything up to date.

This problem occurs even when copying lines of text from Visual Studio Code, so I don't think it's necessarily related to any fonts used.
I am utilizing v10.9.7. Quitting Remote Desktop completely usually resolves the spinning beachball.

Just here to update that the latest version of Remote Desktop for Mac (v10.9.6) still has this problem.

I have this problem when copying from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Changing the font has fixed this issue for me, as described here:
I assumed the clipboard was copying plain text, but it must be including the font, and I don't have that same font on Mac. Switching grid font to Courier worked for me.
