Will Intune sync ever behave similar to "Run remediation"?

Mainly Run remediation uses push notifications and not have to wait for the Windows device to poll for a sync.

Apparently Microsoft has been making some improvements to Intune Sync. Rudy Ooms from PatchMyPC has an informative blog post here: Intune Sync: Win32 Apps / PowerShell Scripts vs Policies

Correct. Please see the post I linked to for some more details and insight into our vision (as of last year): Intune 'fast lane' - Let's talk about all things latency - Microsoft Technical Takeoff.

One bottom line point though: don't believe the FUD around Intune managed devices only syncing every 8 hours. This has never actually been true. That doesn't mean it was (or is) always the exact experience that orgs are expecting and there are many, many caveats and corner-cases that impact reality.
