Not sure if this is something you can speak on, but regarding Windows 11 and AI:
Will Windows 11 continue to support devices without an NPU, or an NPU that isn't able to deliver a certain number of TOPS?Do any Microsoft AI tools require more than a Copilot+ PC NPU is able to run on end user devices/ executing the agent or AI features on their device?
- EricMoe
Microsoft
Hello BlueSakura, Windows 11 will absolutely continue to support devices without an NPU, or even NPUs that don't meet the 40 TOPS minimum for a Copilot+ PC! The Windows AI features that are exclusive to Copilot+ PCs are able to run on all Copilot+ PCs (none of the features we have released to date require more than the Copilot+ PC minimum specifications).

Great, thank you!
Maybe this is something already being discussed at Microsoft, but having like a System Requirements for NPU/TOPS would be helpful as the platform evolves, giving Admins and others some sort of understanding of the applications need. Hopefully a Copilot+ device remains Copilot+ for the duration of the use (3-5 years), but I can see that change as the OS evolves.

What is the easiest way to block other AI tools and make sure our users just use CoPilot?
- EricMoe
Microsoft
Hi TastyPastry there are several ways to block other AI tools. We have an article here Help prevent sharing via Microsoft Edge for Business to unmanaged AI apps from managed devices | Microsoft Learn that describes using Purview DLP to prevent unintended sharing of sensitive information to unmanaged AI apps. There are additional options to use Web Filtering to block AI websites, and block applications with App Protection Policies or AppLocker.

When will the new taskbar agents feature be available to play with since I'm not seeing it in the latest insider Dev build and M365 Copilot
- EricMoe
Microsoft
Hi gareth635, this should be coming soon in Preview per Evolving Windows: new Copilot and AI experiences at Ignite 2025 | Microsoft Community Hub
