In addition to the questions posted on this page, we also answer questions posted in reply to the event on LinkedIn and X (Twitter). Here are the questions we answered:
Question from Tech Community -- Today is the first patch Tuesday after Hotpatching is available. As per the documentation - it says Baseline Patch available only first month of every quarter. Does this mean we should wait for January month to come to test Hotpatch functionality? - answered at 2:38.
Question from Tech Community -- Is Hotpatching available for GCC (Government Community Cloud)? - answered at 4:30.
Question from Tech Community -- Hotpatching is a phenomenal UX advancement and kudos to the team on their accomplishment! If feasible, I'd love to see this capability come for drivers in addition to quality updates. - answered at 5:46.
Question from Tech Community -- is this a completely different product, or is it part of Windows Autopatch, which is a feature in Intune? If it's a different product as a whole, then how does it compete with Windows Autopatch (like pros and cons)? - answered at 7:06.
Question from X -- So we can manage hotpatch for Windows client in Intune/Autopatch, but where do we configure it for Server? Same place? - answered at 8:48.
Question from Tech Community -- When will hotpatches be available in the WSUS Catalog? - answered at 9:57.
Question from Tech Community -- Will .NET Framework cumulative updates also be hotpatch-enabled? If not, it's likely that clients will still require a monthly reboot for these specific update types. - answered at 13:07.
Question from Tech Community -- For Hotpatch policies to apply, does the targeted Windows 11 24H2 group should be excluded from regular WUfB update rings? My assumption is that the PC should not be excluded from WUfB update rings to apply Hotpatch policies - For example, today we received "Pending Reboot" for Dec 2024 security patch from regular WUfB update rings - Can you please explain a little bit? - answered at 17:10.
Question -- what are the pre-requisites for enabling hotpatching for Windows Server and for client? answered at 19:02.
Question from Tech Community -- I created a dynamic group of my 24H2 devices and assigned it to the Hotpatch policy. I did this last month and have update 100+ devices, but these devices are not showing up in the Hotpatch reporting yet. When can I expect them to be reported? - answered at 24:00. - Heather_Poulsen

My test device is on Win 24H2 with Enterprise License, I have enabled Hotpatch and Verified that "AllowRebootlessUpdates" is set 1 and still the my device received a quality update today and rebooted the device. Let me know if I am missing anything?
Also Is there any report to check (not using Autopatch)??
Thank you. - HrschmidtCopper Contributor
The azure VMs 2022 was called "Hotpatching", but the server 2025 is not. They are only called Azure edition.
Will they also be hotpatch eligible?- VishalBajaj
Microsoft
You can visit https://aka.ms/hotpatchdocs for all supported images. For Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Azure Edition, not all images support Hotpatching and so the addition of the text Hotpatching to the name. For Windows Server 2025 Datacenter Azure Edition all officially released images support Hotpatching and hence no explicit call out. Hope that helps.

Can Hotpatching be used with Cloud PCs?
- HrschmidtCopper Contributor
Are there any hardware requirements for Windows server / Windows client hotpatching? Or will I be able to utilize hotpatching as soon as I have Windows 11 + Windows server 2025?
- VishalBajaj
Microsoft
Hrschmidt besides what Joe mentioned, the hardware should be capable to have Virtualization Based Security (VBS) enabled and running. For VMs they need to be Gen 2 VMs. Hardware requirements for VBS is listed here Virtualization-based Security (VBS) | Microsoft Learn

What will the license requirements be for hotpatching for my Windows 11 clients?
Are Business premium limited someway, or do I need to use E3 / E5?- Per-Larsen
Microsoft
To take advantage of the public preview, your organization will need the following to be eligible for hotpatching:
- A Microsoft subscription that includes Windows Enterprise E3 or E5 (e.g. Microsoft 365 A3/A5 or Microsoft 365 F3); or a Windows 365 Enterprise subscription
- Targeted devices running Windows 11 Enterprise, version 24H2 (Build 26100.2033 or later)
- Microsoft Intune

Good day, Thank you for this!
may I come with the feedback, that this feature would be so nice to have with Business premium. 95% of our customers are Business Premium users.
Many scandinavian countries are not that big, they can utilize E3 fully, due to cost.
Having this working for Windows 11 Business, and Business Premium would be a big wish!
