We are very excited to announce a SharePoint Server Subscription Edition AMA!
An AMA is a live text-based online event similar to a “YamJam” on Yammer or an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.
Feel free to post your questions about SharePoint Server Subscription Edition anytime in the comments below beforehand, if it fits your schedule or time zone better, though questions will not be answered until the live hour.

when I configure a MegaMenu style menu with one level, the texts appear huge. How can I make them display the same way they display in the cascading menu style?
- Aria_ConsultingBrass ContributorThat looks like a support issue. Never seen that before.

Hi Victor, As Lorne commented, would you mind opening a support ticket to SPO? We will be able to follow up with you through support channel to solve your problem. Thanks Steve
- Luca CapelliCopper ContributorGood morning! We are creating a little simple intranet based on Sharepoint Online for one our customer. We are experiencing many issues about enrolling apps. For example: 1) Feed Rss - We noticed that only Teams Sharepoint have this capability. A Communication Site havent't. Why ? 2) Personalized view missing - Sharepoint is integrated in Microsoft365, the user logged in is in the most cases a tenant user. Why there isn't an app or a solution to view personal inbox or week calendar? 3) Modern Sites experience give to user a better graphic impact, but they are more "fixed" compared to Classic Sites. Change a colour into a theme is an epic job. We are greatful about yours job, but I think it could be more useful a Modern Site experience more dynamic. Thank you for your attention. Best regards. Luca

Hi Luca, Thank you very much for bringing these feature requests. Since your requests are all for SharePoint Online and this event is for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, it's better that you can bring these requests specifically to SharePoint Online through DCR support ticket (Design Change Request), we will be able to follow up with you through support channel. Thanks Steve - Aria_ConsultingBrass ContributorCommunication sites are, as the name indicates, intended for mostly 'push' rather than 'pull'. As such, some features that are specific to the context of a user aren't supported in Comms sites. But they are still supported in modern team sites.
- jgtarta1Occasional ReaderHi everyboby. I use Access to program applications with Access basic. I use Access since 1995. With the advent of the cloud, I'm trying to get my apps to work on Sharepoint, but I'm having a lot of file sync issues. Where can I find how to organize my applications? Is Access convenient to use? Would I have to learn another tool like Power Apps? Can I do my programs with Sharepoint only? . Thank you very much
- Aria_ConsultingBrass ContributorThe answers are highly dependent on how your apps are designed and how your SP is configured. Many possible answers.
- bwernetCopper ContributorWill CMIS still be present? We still use it with many software - if it is about to be dropped, then we would be forced to buy another product to replace sharepoint as a document storage.
- Aria_ConsultingBrass ContributorSP 2019 still supports CMIS 1.0 (not 1.1), so SPSE should as well.
- Steve Zhang
Microsoft
Lorne's comment is correct, CMIS 1.0 is still supported by SPSE.
- priya216Copper ContributorI have over 100 team sites with the managed path /sites/ and I want to change them to /teams/ so it helps in managing the site url's more efficiently. Is there a way to do this ?
- Steve Zhang
Microsoft
Hi Priya, You can use Set-SPSite PowerShell cmdlet to change the site URL. Please reference this link for more details. (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/sharepoint-server/set-spsite?msclkid=91890fced07b11ec92c98a354a5f6e98&view=sharepoint-server-ps) Thanks Steve
- AaronHamiltonBrass ContributorAre we still able to deploy Full Trust Solutions?
- TroyStarr
Microsoft
Hi Aaron, yes, full trust solutions are still supported in SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. - Steve Zhang
Microsoft
Hi Aaron, The answer is yes, we still support high trust solutions. Thanks Steve
- bwernetCopper ContributorWill Sharepoint Subscription Edition also drop subsites?
- jjramon365Brass ContributorExelente , muito bom,
- Aria_ConsultingBrass ContributorSPO also hasn't "dropped" subsites. They're just highly deemphasized 😉
- Steve Zhang
Microsoft
Hi Brice, We will not drop subsites. There is no plan of doing that. Thanks Steve
- jmThiaBrass ContributorWhat is the recommended value for the maxQueryString ? We do have a problem with rest call in SPD 2013 workflow. And the server admin just says that MS recommends 400. Thanks for the answer.

Microsoft
Hi Jean, For your specific question, would you mind opening a support ticket to us. We will follow up with you through support channel. Thanks Steve
- bwernetCopper ContributorBy the way, is the bug of "third recycle bin not emptying" patched? We still have to patch SQL stored procedure of Office 2019 to recover space...
- Steve Zhang
Microsoft
Hi Brice, Sorry I am not quite following the question. Could you please tell more about what the bug is? Thanks Steve- bwernetCopper ContributorIn our Sharepoint 2019 setup, despite files being deleted from both recycle bins in sharepoint, space is not freed in our databases. We discovered that there is another level of recycle bin in the database, and that the stored procedure that should delete thoses items can't execute: one date in the procedure is set to 31-12-9999, which is not interpreted as a date value. Other default dates in other stored procedures are set to 01-01-9999 which works for any language. So we "patch" sharepoint 2019 by changing this date in every database created by sharepoint...
- mrosenstein_11950Copper ContributorWhat is the main idea behind "Subscription" in "Subscription Edition" if on-premises? Aside from how you pay for it, does this mean there are no more major version updates to install, but rather the services self-update and just have a build number?
- mikeleemsft
Microsoft
Correct, SharePoint Server Subscription Edition is now "Evergreen", which will end the cycle of long and costly major version upgrades to get new features and remain in support.
