Happy Birthday, SharePoint!

Do you have favourite webpart? For me it's Quicklinks 😁
- GittaCopper Contributor
Editorial Card has replaced Quicklinks for me, but it's still a close 1st and 2nd place between these two

I use Editorial Card for "important" and "big things" but I agree that it is one of the most interesting webparts right now 🥰

Hello everyone,
Is Microsoft considering revisiting the SharePoint Alerts retirement timeline?
The current alternatives Microsoft recommends—SharePoint Rules and Power Automate—do not yet provide full feature parity with classic SharePoint Alerts and continue to present usability and capability gaps for end users. For example:
- SharePoint Rules are not fully supported for classic sites and does not work with read permission unlike SharePoint Alerts.
- Limited out‑of‑the‑box Power Automate templates exist to replace common Alert scenarios
- Recreating daily/weekly summaries, change tracking with previous values, or item deletion notifications requires advanced Power Automate expertise
Given these gaps, we ask Microsoft to reconsider the retirement date and extend SharePoint Alerts until functional parity is available in the modern alternatives.
Thanks!

My AMA ask #1: What will happen to the existing SharePoint app bar?
- Marc Mroz
Microsoft
The existing app bar for SP will go away when these new experiences for the app bar, Discover, Publish, and Build go to general availability in a few months. You can opt into the new app bar experience as a tenant or SP admin: New SharePoint experience - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn

Will the SharePoint Admin Agent be available in GCC in the near future?

Question for the AMA:
Some of the previous page templates that were added don't work well on mobile and weren't accessible. Has that been addressed with the next round of page templates that you're pushing?- Marc Mroz
Microsoft
All of the current page templates do work on mobile and passed accessibility testing before they went live. They aren't mobile optimized per se but they should be okay on mobile.

RT… I’ve launched already in my org last week, with 13 custom ACE’s. We love to see what’s next!

Metadata appears to becoming a "big thing" again. While it was always recommended to use for improving search results in the past, it was hard to know the value that effort added. So a lot of people skipped it. Do you have any insights into how impactful metadata will be on Copilot providing better responses based on SP files?

We are hoping for the ability to make section-level templates. Any progress on that?
