Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

Hi! I'm currently using Microsoft Lists as my personal todo list at work. I'm planning to move to new Planner, but I'm missing few features. Are these on the roadmap?
- Paste inline pictures to notes area. My use case is to paste screenshots. If not, what about inserting files from local drive? Now attachments in personal plans are need to be pasted as URL links and that's too slow.
- Rearranging, deleting and creating new labels?
- When creating new task there are only few fields available to fill. Most cases I need to input more informating such as labels, priority etc. and to do that I need three additional clicks to reopen the task in full view. It would be super handy if the task opens in full view in the first place when clicking "Add task".
Thanks in advance! 😊
- David_HopkinsFormer EmployeeGreat idea for creating a new task! Is there any more you could share on how and why this would enhance your experience?
- joukerCopper ContributorHello David! Thank you for the reply. I think I forgot to underline that this relates to Kanban view. Few extra mouse clicks doesn't sound bad, but I think the user exprerience breaks the good flow when you start to create a new task but then you need to accept it first with insufficient information. After that you need to reopen the task to fill in more details to that task. Not fluent user exprerience in my mind. And I think this doesn't require so much to develop further.
- NickyDACopper ContributorHello Team. Within the current version of planner if you assign a user to a task and then they later get removed they still get all the notification emails. Is there a setting for this or is this a known bug/issue and will this be resolved in the new planner? Thanks so much.
- Josh_SpenceCopper ContributorAre there plans to provide improved calendar integration? The ability to allocate time range (start / finish) to a task and not simply a "due date" is a powerful schedule management tool.
- David_HopkinsFormer EmployeeYes, you can set start dates and end dates for tasks in both basic and premium plans. You can then use Schedule view in basic plans and Timeline view in premium plans to visualise those dates across the tasks within those plans.
- atrain204Iron ContributorIt would be great if we could sync Planner tasks to my calendar without creating a public iCAL URL. For obvious reasons, this won't fly in heavily regulated environments.
- RZ-M1Occasional ReaderPlease address the use of MS Semantic Graph for actual tasks or cards in Planner. It appears that CoPilot is not able access those items on an individual basis. It would be very helpful if we could create prompts to query the information stored in our Planner and Teams Sites. Also, we cannot really test if that is in the future, because the old version of Planner is the only one with the API for Graph. Is there a timeline to integrate?

Is Microsoft going to sunset the Desktop Outlook tasks?
Will we retain powerful task module features in the new Planner? If so, I love the customization of the task module in Outlook, using sorting and grouping to control how I want the task management to be.
- RobertOrnelasIron ContributorWill there be any changes to make integration with the MS Project Desktop platform easier?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeNo plans for integration to the Project desktop. Can you share scenarios where you feel this would be of benefit?
- CityofBrandonCopper ContributorHow does this impact project accelerator? We've needed to deploy accelerator for its functionality. However, it appears like baselines and portfolio management are part of the upcoming releases. Do I need to plan an accelerator rollback?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeThere will certainly be new features coming that could replace some of the capabilities currently delivered with the Accelerator, and also for many customers and partners the Accelerator has just been a starting point. As the new features come along, I would suggest getting into the previews to understand how things might need to change if you have any custom solution applied - not just the Accelerator. New Planner doesn't impact anything here though.
- AKMcKCopper ContributorHi there! Will we be able to have multiple planners integrate directly into one Power BI report? This way, we can view what is going on in a department in one report. We would like to be able to look at the bandwidth of each employee and determine if they're being bogged down by too many tasks from all of the different projects going on, or if they need more tasks added to their workload. Ideally, we'd be able to rate how much time a task would take (perhaps through the use of labels?) and view this in the Power BI report.
- Tintti55Copper ContributorWhat the cost of Planner Premium will be for the educational organisations?

Will the new Planner also include a baseline function that allows users to compare the original planned dates with the updated ones?
