New Microsoft Teams AMA
Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, announced at Enterprise Connect.
The AMA will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

Will custom emojis be added as an option for admins to add to the New Teams?
- Jason_Schumacher
Microsoft
Custom emojis is a feature that is currently being designed. We are looking at ways admins can configure the feature, but do not have specifics to report on at this time.
- RichLuskIron ContributorCan you please make Teams Live Events available to Microsoft 365 Business Premium Licenses? It's only available to Enterprise customers and there are many businesses with M365 Business Premium licenses that would like to use Live Events. It's interesting that Live Events is available for E1 but not for M365 Business Premium which is a more robust license.
- BenRuppCopper ContributorI didn't realize this Rich, thanks for bringing this out.

Thank you for the suggestion and I will relay this to the appropriate product teams to take into consideration.
- kshah1999Brass ContributorWhen are you going to publish best practice governance for Teams 2.0?

Hi again Ketan - We have an administration and governance blog post linked from aka.ms/NewTeams but our governance processes remain the same. They are normally specific to your organization and also should incorporate other collaboration and communication workloads from Microsoft like SharePoint, OneDrive and Outlook. I gave an overview on "Collaboration Governance" with John G at Ignite which is still online providing an overview of all these capabilities or you can visit https://aka.ms/TeamworkGovernance documentation to learn more. The link to the Ignite session is here: https://ignite.microsoft.com/en-US/sessions/2c9e4adf-f163-42bf-ba70-aca2a3ddaec6?source=sessions
- kshah1999Brass ContributorNew Teams is similar to Teams 1.0 for technical folks like me and people here posting. However, Teams is now used by large number of non-technical people. What is your plan to convey them on changes and how to train them without impacting productivity of these users?

Hi Ketan - if you visit https://aka.ms/NewTeams you'll see we have created slideware for help desks and trainers to convey what's different. Each week we review this asset to update it with new information. That page is your one stop shop to assist in the transition.
- BenRuppCopper ContributorWhen looking at coming releases, is it safe to assume all of the releases are being built into Teams Classic until an official release of Teams 2.0? If not, it could be useful to start notating which apps the feature lease is going to? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Microsoft%20Teams

Hi Ben - all new features you see on the roadmap are for classic Teams; any new features for the new Teams app will be published on https://aka.ms/newTeams because it's still in preview. Once new Teams is GA, we'll then start publishing new features on the roadmap and we will differentiate if necessary.
- JGarc2020Brass ContributorWould love the option to mute notifications to selected channels in a team or to decrease frequency of the notifications for a particular channel.

What are the recommended best practices for collaboration between tenants. In other words how do we enable seamless sharing, meetings, and chats between tenants while ensuring users can see messages / chats from other tenants etc. We have enabled B2B direct connect between our tenants for shared channels but this doesn't help with direct messaging between people in resource tenants, and users our are confused on how to contact other users between guest and external accounts in the directory. I do understand that there are notifications in the New Teams but for a busy IT pro like me with many automated messages in channels from things like Azure DevOps, the notifications don't mean much. There seems to be a need for better collaboration across tenants, not just within Teams.

Hey there McCranium (great name) - MTMA should cover this for you! Have you tried it out yet in the new Teams app? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/try-the-new-microsoft-teams-2d4a0c96-fa52-43f8-a006-4bfbc62cf6c5 (MTMA).- McCraniumCopper Contributor
Yes, I'm currently using the MTMA in the New Teams (toggle is on) and have multiple accounts connected in multiple tenants and have configured my notification settings in Windows. The only thing I'm seeing is the notifications in the top right telling me that I have 99+ messages /chats/ in the other tenant, should there be more than this?
- Dean_SternikCopper ContributorIn Teams 2.0 - will chats stay in the same order or will they eventually mimic the Teams conversations order?
- Sam Cosby
Microsoft
Hey there Dean - seeing a few items around this great feedback and we're taking all feedback around the new Channels experience(s) into consideration, but no plans as of now to make the switch. Thanks for reporting this! - psschwarzCopper ContributorDean, good question I posted the same in regards to different sort order in a channel chat vs a regular chat
- psschwarzCopper ContributorWhen clicking the Windows notification of a new chat, this pops out the chat into a new window however, to see the full history of that chat, users need to close the popped out window, then find the chat "or" Channel to see the full history - this cause extra steps for the user. Is this expected behavior?

Microsoft
Hey there - thanks for this feedback! As we've seen from internal feedback and preview feedback we're working on prioritizing plans to allow in-app chat notifications, as we know this has been a consistent theme from our feedback. Much appreciated for this and we're working on that.

Teams chat suggestion: When I press the up arrow on my keyboard, it shortcuts to editing the last message I sent. This is obviously what you want. However, it would feel much more natural if the text marker (not a native English speaker, sorry) jumped to the end of my last message, rather than the beginning, as that lets me use the backspace key which comes naturally when editing text.

I am happy to share that the fix for this is currently in testing and is expected to be available to everyone soon. Please keep a look out for it in the coming weeks.
