If you are stuck in your journey to the cloud -- or have questions about the ins and outs of Windows Autopilot, Microsoft Entra Join (formerly Azure AD Join), policy management -- come ask the experts! This live question-and-answer session with product managers and engineers is all about you - your environment, your endpoints, your scenarios and use cases, your questions. Together, let's triage, troubleshoot, and triumph over those big challenges or little bumps in the road. And, if you love Intune, we want to hear about that, too!
This session is part of the Microsoft Technical Takeoff: Windows + Intune. Add it to your calendar, RSVP for event reminders, and post your questions and comments below! This session will also be recorded and available on demand shortly after conclusion of the live event. |

- RobdeRoosIron ContributorSomething that just popped up in my mind.... I would love to see something that when an admin changes a marked policy or application, the change needs to be approved by, for example, an Technical Architect. I've seen something last year around this but it became very silent arround that one 😞
- shokolateCopper ContributorHave you checked "Multiple Admin Approvals" feature yet? This covers only app/script policy deployment so far but seemed close to what you were looking for: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/multi-admin-approval

Thanks for the shoutout and the answers! Love these sessions and thinking along with the team!
I'm following all the sessions while cooking diner, getting the kids to their sports and music lessons, and all other day to day stuff. Challenging but that is what I love!!
- Jacob_VBrass ContributorI agree with this, thank you as well for the opportunity to meet with you all today. Getting the opportunity to provide industry feedback from both customers we work with, and projects deliver certainly feels like we are working together to build a fantastic product. I feel like customer voice is a wonderful platform to ask for new features but knowing that you all have access to this feedback makes me feel bigger in our small world. Thanks team!

In addition to the questions posted on this page, we also answer questions posted in reply to the event on LinkedIn and Twitter. Here are the questions we answered today:
- From Casper on LinkedIn -- How long does the Hybrid join take during the deployment? How can I troubleshoot a device in Azure AD staying pending for too long? - answered at 16:10
- From Nangana on LinkedIn-- When a device appears in devices in Entra, but not onboarding in Intune, is there a way to manually onboard such devices? Please no Autopilot. - answered at 36:00
- From Anothy -- Is there an architectural recommendation for naming Entra ID groups for Intune for Windows? I know it depends on organizational structure but curious if there are some best practices for structuring autopilot workflow. - answered at 08:30

Great response to my questions, Thank you for this technical take off series very informative. Key point from this specific session. Don't think like a configman admin/old school, be open to change.
- Did i missed anything for example apv2 😛 (needed to drive home.. damn time zones 🙂 )
- TimDKBrass ContributorWhat? No Copilot Rudy? 😄
- Hehehe … copilot? Never heard that name before 🙂
- TheTrevOccasional ReaderAny thoughts on getting windows defender to update during the autopilot install, when a device is wiped/cleaned or sat on the shelf at a supplier it can take several hours for endpoint protection to become compliant, its not ideal having a machine on the internet without upto date definitions.

Will Microsoft provide steps or tools to migrate Hybrid AD-joined user profiles into AzureAD profiles, with minimal user impact and without the need to wipe their profiles?

Thanks for participating in today's Windows. Cloud. Management. Your questions answered! For reference, the panel covered this topic at around 48:10.

Re: Azure Arc vs. Intune server management: part of the reason people keep asking about Intune mgmt of servers is that Arc does not meet the need. There are things that challenging or infeasible to implement. For example, you can't apply Conditional Access policies requiring Compliant Device (Intune-enrolled, rather than permitting by IP) with Arc. Another is that cloud LAPS was written to manage Server, but can't actually do it, which was news even to the person that helped create cloud LAPS: Windows Local Administrator Password Solution with Microsoft Entra ID now Generally Available! - Microsoft Community Hub. We keep facing these challenges over and over, and it seems to be caused by this internal Microsoft friction between Arc and Intune.
On behalf of customers trying to solve these problems, when will this friction resolved?
- Jacob_VBrass ContributorThanks again for this session it so wonderful to hear from all of you! In the future will it be possible to get a resource into error code repository for Intune errors when it comes to polices not applying, or applications not installing? Looking up error codes in the Bing search has often turned into people guessing what is causing the issue leading to shotgun solutions from folks that are not Microsoft representatives. Asking for the error in the Microsoft forums often leads to time consuming review if someone actually fixed the issue or possibly no resolution reached.
- Jacob_VBrass ContributorAn example of this was recently applying LAPS it wouldn't apply but only give us a generic error code. So, reviewing on the device it said it didn't meet the complexity password requirements. Having the link from the code to the tech article or repository would help to quicker resolution.

Hi Jacob. That's a tough one (at best). Every policy and solution set has many different possible failure points and its effectively impossible to cover them all with meaningful messages. Once combined with other moving parts, the task becomes even more difficult. We ultimately just cannot, during design and coding, account for every failure or provide necessary guidance for those that aren't encountered until the solution hits the real world. Thus, as scenarios and failures begin to crop up through real world usage and interaction with other systems, we certainly do attempt to provide solutions but it's very difficult to keep up and many of these scenarios require deep investigation and may vary depending upon the variables involved. Sorry, I know that's sounds like a long-winded excuse for not helping you address a challenge you have, but I just wanted to put into context some of difficulty associated with this (and I've only truly just scratched the surface here). This is ultimately why our customer support services exists and we do certainly try to publish as much information as we can to enable folks to resolve their own issues. I wish I had a better answer here, but this challenge is as old as coding is -- I could easily draw an analogy here between medicine and any animal (including humans). If you are encountering a persistent issue that you cannot solve, please leverage the various support vehicles available to you including CSS. Also, always remember that if the issue you are encountering is attributed to a bug, CSS support should be at no cost to you.
