Event details
Join us on Thursday, November 9th at 9:00 AM Pacific Standard Time for an exciting Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Microsoft 365 Copilot. This live, text-based online event will allow you to connect with Microsoft product experts who will answer your questions and provide valuable insights on how to prepare your organization for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Get Ready for Microsoft Ignite
As we approach Microsoft Ignite, it is crucial to ensure your organization is technically ready for the full potential of Microsoft 365 Copilot. This AMA will focus on technical readiness and pre-Ignite content and questions related to Copilot. Our experts will share best practices and provide guidance on how to maximize the benefits of Copilot within your organization.
How the AMA Works
This AMA will be a live text-based online event with no audio or video component, similar to an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit. To participate, simply post your questions about Microsoft 365 Copilot in the comments section below. While you can start posting your questions now, please note that our experts will only answer questions during the live event.

- AhsanzaidiOccasional ReaderWhen can we expect to Copilot attend meetings on users behalf and take meeting notes without the actual user joining the meeting? Also will there be an option for the licence owner to limit any functionality which is available but is not align with organisation policy?
- GabeHoIron ContributorHey Ahsan Zaidi, I'm also very excited about this feature! You can follow it on the roadmap here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?rtc=1&filters=&searchterms=154557 We're adding more admin controls to manage and configure Copilot. You can find the latest documentation at aka.ms/M365Copilotdocs
- m49808Brass ContributorWhen will we have the ability to POC this on our data/environment with less than 300 licenses? This a requirement for us to use it. I cannot ask business units to pay $100,000 for something they cannot even try out first.
- GabeHoIron ContributorHey Mark, appreciate your feedback and acknowledge your ask here. During the enterprise early access program, we learned that this was about the right starting point that maximized impact. Users are able to share learnings with each other while teams could explore using Copilot to change business practices - using Copilot to change how they work.
- lucashunoldBrass ContributorSo, everyone else is just not even allowed? You speak of maximized impact. And then lock everyone out that doesn't fit this?
- JaninnhoCopper ContributorAre there currently plans to make Microsoft 365 Copilot available to Microsoft 365 Business customers or Enterprise customers who do not want to buy 300 licenses directly? And will the Microsoft 365 Copilot also be available to M365 private customers (MSA accounts)? And if so, approximately when can a rollout be expected?

Copilot seems to have some serious limitations placed on it in terms of what customers it has been offered to on this first wave for general release.
All previous documentation references Business Premium being an alternative to Enterprise licences for Copilot for Microsoft 365 (including during previous AMAs on this tech hub).
It was then announced that Copilot will only be available for customers on the Enterprise suite and it would require 300 users to be enrolled as a minimum. This has created a massive barrier to entry.
Some rough napkin maths gave a rough figure of £187k per annum "buy in" cost based on the current minimum requirements (300 x £30 pm (Copilot) + 300 x £22 pm (E3)), though this would likely be higher as E5 has a lot of the minimum requirements for firms on Business Premium.
Question: When is Microsoft opening up Copilot for Microsoft 365 for Business Premium customers (and less than 300 seats)?
- GabeHoIron ContributorHey Max, absolutely understand the disappointment about last week's GA news. Ahead of enterprise GA, we had a chance to learn from and co-create with our early access enterprise customers. In September, we expanded the early access program to do the same with small businesses and entrepreneurs. This testing allows us to gather real-life feedback and fine-tune the product experience for their unique needs. We'll have more to share on broader availability for small businesses in the coming months.
- PurviancejCopper ContributorI’d love if we’d stop saying it’s GA for enterprise customers. If I may suggest a more accurate response. “Announcement 11/1: Microsoft 365 Copilot is now GA for enterprise clients with 300+ E3/5 licenses and are granted permission via their account manager. Enterprise clients with less than 300 users will have to wait an undetermined amount of time to be allowed to access Copilot.” Isn’t that much closer to the truth?
- Ole Kristian Mørch-StorsteinCopper ContributorI think the communication here has been unfortunate. I know we have plenty of SMB customers who are standing in line, cash in hand, but have been told to go home. I feel it would have been better to keep calling this a paid preview.
- james333Iron ContributorGreat question!
- davidcohen1018Copper ContributorI was told by my msp not to expect this for us (300 users ish) until q2 2024.
- NealFitzCopper ContributorWhen can we expect Microsoft Copilot to be available for Partners to sell to their customers?
- NealFitzCopper Contributor
When can we expect Microsoft Copilot to be available for Microsoft Partners to use on their own tenant?
- GabeHoIron ContributorHey Neal, thank you for your question. Along with your other question about Partners ability to sell, we're working on that as quickly as possible and will have updates in the future.
- AlexiaMantouCopper ContributorWill we get a recording and/or Transcript of the meeting for those unable to join?
- Sarah_GilbertSilver ContributorThis ama is text based and will remain even after it has concluded so that you can come back and read over the questions and answers 🙂
- tory1234Copper ContributorHi, we're Microsoft customer from Hong Kong. Could you guys arrange a session that's APEC timesone friendly?
- Sarah_GilbertSilver ContributorThank you for that feedback. We haven't yet but we certainly want to look into doing one in this timezone for the future!
