Copilot seems to have some serious limitations placed on it in terms of what customers it has been offered to on this first wave for general release.
All previous documentation references Business Premium being an alternative to Enterprise licences for Copilot for Microsoft 365 (including during previous AMAs on this tech hub).
It was then announced that Copilot will only be available for customers on the Enterprise suite and it would require 300 users to be enrolled as a minimum. This has created a massive barrier to entry.
Some rough napkin maths gave a rough figure of £187k per annum "buy in" cost based on the current minimum requirements (300 x £30 pm (Copilot) + 300 x £22 pm (E3)), though this would likely be higher as E5 has a lot of the minimum requirements for firms on Business Premium.
Question: When is Microsoft opening up Copilot for Microsoft 365 for Business Premium customers (and less than 300 seats)?

Ahead of enterprise GA, we had a chance to learn from and co-create with our early access enterprise customers. In September, we expanded the early access program to do the same with small businesses and entrepreneurs. This testing allows us to gather real-life feedback and fine-tune the product experience for their unique needs. We'll have more to share on broader availability for small businesses in the coming months.

If I may suggest a more accurate response. “Announcement 11/1: Microsoft 365 Copilot is now GA for enterprise clients with 300+ E3/5 licenses and are granted permission via their account manager. Enterprise clients with less than 300 users will have to wait an undetermined amount of time to be allowed to access Copilot.” Isn’t that much closer to the truth?
