Event details

As organizations embrace the power of Microsoft 365 Copilot and M365 Copilot Chat, they see significant value in the way Copilot's web search enhances response quality with the latest data from the web. At the same time, many organizations want to understand how to govern and monitor the use of web search. In this 30-minute session, we’ll explore how Microsoft empowers customers to tailor web search behavior in Copilot to meet their unique business needs.

You’ll learn about the four layers of protection Microsoft provides to help you confidently manage web search in Copilot:

  1. Admin controls
  2. User protections
  3. Search query protections
  4. Contractual commitments

Whether you're in IT, security, or compliance, this session will equip you with the baseline knowledge of Copilot web search controls so you can make the right decisions for your organization

    Up next in the series:

    Build enterprise-scale agents securely

We hope to see you there.

  • My recommendation is to open a support ticket.  The Copilot UI in the browser is designed to respect the same controls enabled by the IT admin in M365 Copilot Chat.

Microsoft Search has been accessible through various platforms like Bing, browser address bars, apps such as SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows Search, and microsoft365.com. Will Copilot eventually become the unified search source, replacing all these other locations?

These locations will remain accessible for users to reach Copilot in the flow of their work.

The new Copilot UI in the Browser is not respecting the Allow web search in Copilot policy for controlling web search in the Work tab in Copilot.

Our organization has the Allow web search in Copilot policy set to Disabled in Microsoft 365 Copilot Work mode; Enabled in Microsoft 365 Copilot Web mode and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.

We are seeing that the web toggle is on by default in the new Copilot UI in the Browser, While The Copilot app in Teams is still respecting the policy and has the web toggle disabled with no option to turn it on. I assume this is a bug in the Copilot UI.
