Event details

We are excited to announce a Microsoft 365 Copilot AMA on Thursday, July 13th at 9:00 AM Pacific time!

Join our experts to ask questions about Microsoft 365 Copilot and discuss some best practices to prepare your organization for Microsoft 365 Copilot. The focus of this AMA will be on technical readiness for Copilot. Responses to questions about licensing, pricing, and availability will be shared in future. For questions about any details about the Early Access Program (EAP), please address them to your Microsoft account team.

For full overview of Copilot, check out this blog post: How to prepare for Microsoft 365 Copilot

This AMA will be a live text-based online event with no audio or video component like an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

Feel free to post your questions about Microsoft 365 Copilot now through the end of the live event in the comments below. Please note, questions will not be answered until the live event.

Could you share more? why are you asking? Copilot will not be a per token model, if that is why.

I have a few questions: 1. I'm on an educational A1 Office 365 license. Will there be access to Copilot for these licenses? 2. Will the admin have control over who in the administration has access to Copilot? I would like admin and faculty to have access to the tool, but don't want to extend that same access to students. 3. What will the interface in Word and PowerPoint look like? What is possible?

Copilot will be available as an add-on license to Microsoft E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium at this time, more information will be made available in future.

      1. There hasn't ever been reference to anything other than the Enterprise and Business editions of "Microsoft 365" so I honestly doubt it'll be available on day 1 for anything else. 2. It's been shown that the Admin panel is where the company administrator can assign copilot licenses. 3. There are videos for Word and Powerpoint online for Copilot - you have a window that you write a prompt into and reference other files.

I thought it was mentioned that users should be using the “New Outlook” for Windows for Microsoft Copilot, is this still the case? A related question is will the Microsoft Copilot experience be the same on Office for Mac as it is for Office for Windows? Finally, will Microsoft Copilot work on the iOS and iPadOS Office Apps?

Microsoft 365 Copilot will require use of the new Outlook for Windows. Copilot will be supported across various platforms.

Everything I’ve seen for outlook was using the “new outlook” so I think it’s safe to assume this is a requirement and they won’t be supporting the old version. Not seen anything relating to Mac but they have shown it working on mobile; though this might be the web version (not the end of the world).

That's my understanding as well - "New" Outlook only. This is disappointing since I far prefer the non-"new" Outlook.

In short, it is a yes to all of your questions. New Outlook is required. We are working on bringing consistent experience across platforms and there are plans to bring Copilot to the iOS, still TBD on iPadOS.

So I have a bunch of questions, which I hope to get answers to... 1: Will CoPilot be available for ALL Office 365 tenant regions? such as Norway? If we have a customer with O365 data tenant in Norway will they be able to use the service right away or will it require Azure OpenAI to become available in that region before copilot becomes available? 2: Is semantic search enabled by default for all tenants and if so how can we check if it is rolled out? 3: How will we be able to detect usage and analyze the usage of Copilot to see what people are asking about? Will that require Viva insights? 4: Will Copilot be based upon GPT 3.5 or GPT 4? 5: Will there be guides for how to increase relevancy for a document to be included in Copilot? I'm guessing that copilot search will fetch the top 3 documents and try and make a summary, but sometimes it might not be the most relevant document so would like some insight into how the index is built and how it chooses the most correct document 6: Will QnA, bookmarks, addresses and such which are part of the Graph Search be available as content in Copilot? 7: Will there be a generic chat interface in Copilot? or will it only be available through Microsoft Apps? 8: Will there be any additional cost for using Copilot with 3. party data connected through the Graph Connectors? Will the same licensing requirements apply? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/licensing 9: Will there come a Graph API that will allow us to interface with the Copilot?

1: Will CoPilot be available for ALL Office 365 tenant regions? such as Norway? If we have a customer with O365 data tenant in Norway will they be able to use the service right away or will it require Azure OpenAI to become available in that region before copilot becomes available? Learn more how Copilot works Get ready for Copilot . Copilot uses the power of Azure Open AI, but it is not required. We’ll answer availability questions in the future. 2: Is semantic search enabled by default for all tenants and if so how can we check if it is rolled out? Specifically for customers in EAP, Semantic indexing will be enabled by default for tenants in the background upon assignment of Copilot licenses, and is updated as content is access/created/updated by users. At this time there’s no check to see if it’s rolled out. We will be sharing more information by the time of general availability. 3: How will we be able to detect usage and analyze the usage of Copilot to see what people are asking about? Will that require Viva insights? Admins can track usage of Copilot in the Microsoft 365 admin center using the Usage reports. Prompts are not tracked for reporting. 4: Will Copilot be based upon GPT 3.5 or GPT 4? Microsoft 365 Copilot uses a combination of various GPT models – including GPT 4 5: Will there be guides for how to increase relevancy for a document to be included in Copilot? I'm guessing that copilot search will fetch the top 3 documents and try and make a summary, but sometimes it might not be the most relevant document so would like some insight into how the index is built and how it chooses the most correct document Guides on how users can improve prompts and use Copilot will be made available. 6: Will QnA, bookmarks, addresses and such which are part of the Graph Search be available as content in Copilot? Copilot will only surface content that the user has access to. It does not change existing permissions and access. 7: Will there be a generic chat interface in Copilot? or will it only be available through Microsoft Apps? Copilot will be available in Microsoft 365 apps and as a cross-app intelligence. 8: Will there be any additional cost for using Copilot with 3. party data connected through the Graph Connectors? Will the same licensing requirements apply? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/licensing We’ll answer pricing/licensing/availability questions in the future. 9. You could leverage connectors and plugins for Copilot
