Microsoft Loop AMA
Event details
We are excited to announce a Microsoft Loop AMA on Tuesday, January 17th at 9:00 AM Pacific time!
Join us as our experts discuss how teams can think, plan, and create together with Microsoft Loop! Learn more about the value of Loop components, available now in Teams chat and Outlook, and discuss vision for the Loop app. The team is excited for any questions and feedback you may have.
Catch up on the team's news from Ignite 2022 in their blog post here: Microsoft Loop at Ignite 2022
An AMA is a live text-based online event similar to a “YamJam” on Yammer or an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.
Feel free to post your questions about Microsoft Loop components and Loop app vision now through the end of the live event in the Comment on this event... box below; however, questions will not be answered until the live event.

- When will Loop components be able to be stored in SharePoint?
- JMcGeeWSPCopper ContributorAgreed, being able to store project centric loops in SharePoint instead of OneDrive would be great.
- Constance Gervais
Microsoft
Components created in Teams and Outlook are currently stored in the user's OneDrive account. For more information on how they are stored please read: Overview of Loop components in Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn Thank you for the feedback on the desire to create Loop Components from SharePoint. I'll take this back to the team!
- This question relates to when components will be available in Teams channels. We hope to see them stored in a channel’s folder so all team members can contribute.
- AlexH980Iron Contributorinteresting in this too

When can we get our hands on with Microsoft Loop?
Will there be integration with the task list created withing Microsoft Loop and Microsoft To-Do?
Will there be support
for add code blocks with syntax highlighting?
for creating our own database similar to Notion?
for showing backlinks on a loop page?
for command pallet to quickly find a page just by using keyboard?
for using markdown syntax to write content in a loop page?
for exporting a loop page to PDF / HTML / Markdown etc.?
for drawing tools to create diagrams like flow chart?
for embedding external resources like Figma, YouTube etc.,
- Will there be support for migrating from other tools like Notion? (Microsoft had Evernote to OneNote Importer before)
- Will there be a desktop app (Windows & macOS) for Microsoft Loop? Can it work offline? Would it be possible to use all Loop Pages when not connected to internet?

1. The Microsoft Loop app is currently being used in private preview and we're working hard to put on some finishing touches. Keep a close eye out, we'll have more to announce soon! 2. We're working on integrating Loop component tasks with your preferred Microsoft task management tool, whether that be To-Do, Planner, or the Loop app. 3. These are great ideas and some are in the works. We'll be disclosing more about specific capabilities when we announce public preview. 4. Thanks for the suggestion for a migration tool. 5. The Loop app will be available as a web app and on mobile. Loop is designed to be used with internet connectivity.
- Will Viva Engage/ Yammer become a Loop-aware app, supporting Loop components?
- AlexH980Iron ContributorI'd also be interested in seeing Yammer posts become a loop component... just because.
- WalliBrass ContributorThat's great
- Peter McdermottIron ContributorReally looking forward to this. I've had my fingers crossed that I'll be able to use Loop by January to organize my year ahead. Thanks for setting this up!
- What is the roadmap for supporting external sharing with Loop components? If Loop files are stored in OneDrive and the org allows external sharing, what other pieces of the puzzle remain to enable external sharing and collaboration with Loop components?
- Constance Gervais
Microsoft
Like Shane mentioned in another question, external sharing for Loop components and Loop pages is definitely something on the roadmap. We've heard a ton of feedback about this and something we know customers want. Unfortunately, external sharing is not an easy scenario to deliver since it requires even more compliance and security work. We are working on delivering external sharing; however, we don't yet have a timeline to share.
- What other apps will Loop components be supported in? PowerPoint? Imagine being able to have a slide in a presentation with a component. Pause for 5min of ideation and co-creation. Then move on with the presentation. That would drive engagement and interaction in presentations and meetings.
- Constance Gervais
Microsoft
Amazing scenario for creating interactive presentations! Loop components is coming to Word Online to private preview soon! With regards to PowerPoint integration, we've heard lots of feedback about integrations of Loop components in more Microsoft 365 apps. We love hearing your scenarios about new integrations 😃
- Why do some Loop components allow us to add different types of blocks and others don’t allow the same range of blocks? Is there a plan to allow blocks to be used in all components, regardless of where you start the component?
- Constance Gervais
Microsoft
Specifically in tables we don't allow adding all the block types in table cells since some don't feel great in a cell. However, when creating a Loop component in Teams or Outlook you should be able to add additional blocks. Just type "/" above or below an existing block to add more content.
- Is there a roadmap for release of more Loop blocks? Inside components, blocks provide different ways to create content and collaborate. It would be good to see some of the blocks that were announced in 2021, live the Status Tracker and Voting Table.
- Jon KaufthalBrass ContributorVoting table has recently rolled out to Public Developer Preview for Teams. Status Tracker is in a slightly earlier stage but is making good progress internally. Voting Table and Status Tracker are coming to the Loop app public preview as well as to apps like Teams and Outlook, and as Contance said, we're always looking for new types of block ideas, please do share your thoughts!
- Constance Gervais
Microsoft
We don't have a public roadmap for new block types. However, we are always looking for new block ideas, scenarios and potential templates. Please add any new ideas in the comments below!
- Forrest_HIron ContributorBring Loop components to Teams Channel Posts for smaller subgroup activities rather than having to involve other Apps / Tabs. Having Loop as Peer(s) to Peer(s) outside of Teams Channels is sometimes cumbersome. It would also keep the content in the Team in case of staff Exits.
- Jon KaufthalBrass ContributorWe have heard your feedback and are very eager to bring Loop components to Teams channels! That said, the channels architecture and permissions model brings some unique considerations that will take us some time to work through. If you have specific feedback or ideas around how you would like/expect components in channels to work, please share!
- Forrest_HIron Contributor
Would like it to operate in same similar fashion to how it does for the Peer to Peer in Chats/Posts now. However, rather than storing the content in individual user OneDrive, keep the Content in the Teams (SP Folder) like the current Channels operate. This way as Staff Exit or come on-board, the permissions will be managed via the Loop Members or via the SP Permissions. Compliance and Security would be driven by SP. New Members could be added to the Loop. Sort of like the way Subsites worked in SP before Modernization.
- bradenriisBrass ContributorI agree! This would be very useful. Right now, to make loop effective to use I have to use a chat or create a chat with the same group of people that I already have in a team. I think that Loop Components make more sense in a channel as well since that is where I expect more collaboration to take place. I would also expect that if they were created in a Channel that they would save to the folder on SharePoint versus OneDrive which would support a pathway for inherited permissions.
- Forrest_HIron Contributor
🤞 I hope this makes sense to the Developers too!
Although I must admit, having so many ways of working with different Apps, add-ins, widgets and throwing permissions into the mix, makes it difficult manage and troubleshoot.
