Word Form control markers showing on PDF export
Hi Paul,
There is a huge difference, in Word jargon, between a Content Control and a [legacy] formfield.
Neither, however, translate into pdf. In pdf, these are simply text.
What do you see if you fill these in?
This form should be saved as a template with new documents created from the template. Templates in Microsoft Word
If the lines show up in a pdf after the form is filled out, set the properties of the Content Controls to delete the content control when edited.
Charles_Kenyon Thank you for your response. I can see the logic of using that setting.
The marks are present when the form is filled in
One thing I didn't include in the original post was the red text needs to be black when the field is completed. I have achieved this, but I'm wondering if the colour change is part of the reason why the marks are appearing.
There are a couple of things I want to try; will update with the outcome.

Again, you need this to be a template, not a document. Your users then create documents based on the template. If you set the CC to be deleted when edited, what that means is that you have the text that is typed but the CC is no longer there.

Charles_Kenyon : ) yes, I'm saving as a template. Thank you for the reminder.

@Charles_Kenyon I was having mixed results. Some fields weren't working some were. I copied the controls that where and pasted them where I needed.
When I entered Design Mode to check how the fields were named, I noticed something.
The restricted editing areas were different. On the controls that where leaving the marks behind, the editable area was taking in the name(?) part of the control (top indicated area) and the controls that weren't only had the text area of the control as editable (lower indicated area.
The following shows the end result in a PDF, when the editing areas have been set up correctly.
Thank you for your help with this. Much appreciated.
