This solution worked for me. I had been going to File>options>proofing>Custom Dictionaries this did not work for me. You solution worked instantly. I had been working on a document that was proofing in US English, I followed your instructions and all the red lines in my document disappeared.
I don't usually comment in communities but this was such a bug bear and to find a simple solution that actually dealt directly with my problems and solved it instantly is such a relief.
