Unstyled name in docx file
1. Clear the hidden format (most commonly used)
Method 1: Using the “Clear Format” function
Select the “Unstyled” text → Click on the “Start” tab → “Clear Formatting” (icon A and eraser).
Then reapply the desired style (e.g. “Body”).
Method 2: Copy to Notepad and paste back into Word
Copy the problem text to Notepad (clearing all formatting) → Paste it back into Word and apply the style.
2. Check the document template
Replace the template
Open Word → “File” → “Options” → “Add-ins” → bottom management select “Templates” → “Go To”. “Go To”.
Uncheck the current template, or attach a new one (e.g. Normal.dotm).
3. Repair the file structure
Method 1: Rename the file to .zip and check for XML
Rename the .docx file to .zip → unzip it and check word/styles.xml for unusual style definitions.
(Backup the file before operation!)
Method 2: Using the “Open and Repair” function
Open Word → “File” → “Open” → select the file → click “Open” drop-down menu → “Open and Repair “.
4. Other attempts
Update Word or switch versions
Make sure you are using the latest version of Word (“File” → “Account” → “Update Options”).
Try opening the file in the web version of Word or on a different device.
Disable plug-ins
Disable add-ins in Word (“File” → “Options” → “Add-ins”) in order to test if the problem is solved
Hi Asher
Apologies for late response,
I tried all the above option but it not works, we can't perform clear formatting option because formatting will missed we need to perform manually.
As per my analysis so far doc is not a xml workflow show it not shows any unnamed character style, But docx is XML workflow so each each and every invalid formatting also it create some unnamed character style.
But i can find directly in word where this issue happens.
