Track changes by author doesn't work
Thanks. I had clicked By Author on all three of the Advanced Options boxes and the Markup still doesn’t change color. Also Microsoft gave me a case number when tech support cldn’t help me: Case ID: 7070480226. Thanks again though.
Colors won't necessarily change, because Word decides which specific colors to assign (more or less at random). There is no way to instruct Word which colors to use.
However, you should see different colors for different user names / reviewers.

Thanks -- when i use By Author, everyone's changes are the same color instead of different colors for different users. Ugh.

Can you share a sample document so that I could have a closer look? From the copy, permanently remove any sensitive information and keep some content which illustrates the issue.

Test insert. [<THAT TO THE LEFT IS MY HUSBAND’S EDIT] As class begins, high-school English teacher Sherry Zweitach reminds her students about last night’s unconventional homework assignment: “I asked you to write a paragraph or two about the three chief blessings in your life, making clear why they are in fact blessings. Who would be willing to read what you’ve written?” THIS AND THE ABOVE IN BRACKETS ARE MY EDITS

Sorry -- I can't figure out how to copy this with color, but the first line -- from "Test insert" to the final closing bracket, and the last bit in all caps, are all in red. But "Test insert." shd be a different color from the all caps text.
