Charles_Kenyon Thank you. I see that other than reporting the same bug, nothing was resolved for that person either. In both cases, we have been using RD for a long time and it suddenly stopped working—this isn’t a case of not knowing how to use the field. Note that I spoke with MS Support and they couldn’t seem to replicate the problem nor could they offer up a solution. Hopefully MS will get around to fixing this bug. Assuming they can figure out what’s going on.

My check shows the macro by Jonathan West in my article gets a TOC with continuous page numbering.
Using RD and Other Fields to Construct Multi-File Documents in Word
Should this be necessary? No.
But, it may get you the document you need now rather than when Microsoft gets around to fixing this.
- solovyeiSep 30, 2024Copper ContributorUnfortunately, this didn't work for me. The TOC remained as before. Also, please note that the macro fails if you are in a folder that's tied to OneDrive; I had to place everything in a folder that isn't backed up to my OneDrive account. Also, just FYI to anyone trying it, if the file with the TOC is set up with its own pagination (e.g., i, ii, iii) such that the subdocuments are supposed to start with "1," the macro will repaginate as if it is all sequential (so if the TOC file has two pages, the first page of the first subdocument ends up as page 3.
- Charles_KenyonSep 30, 2024Bronze ContributorOneDrive/SharePoint does not play well with macros, in my experience. I have had no problem using with local files that are synched to OneDrive.
The continuation of numbering from the main document could be cured with a change to the macro.
