Text alignment in table cell of word document

Pranali I had a similar issue and the problem was that individual cells had different line spacing settings (these unfortunately do not show up as actual characters, but mess up text positions within cells)
For example, some of the cells in my table did not respond to text alignment buttons. I realized these had a "Space after paragraph" within them. I selected the entire table and chose "Remove space after paragraph". This resolved the issue. Hope someone will find this helpful.
