I checked my default text by the CTRL+D, it tells me the font is Arial, 10 , not bold, but when I type something it is bold?

Steps to Fix the Problem
Here are some simple steps to troubleshoot and fix this:
- Check the Paragraph Style: Place your cursor where you’re typing, look at the Style box on the Home tab, and ensure it’s set to "Normal." If it’s not, select "Normal" to see if that fixes it. Styles can sometimes include bold formatting without you realizing it.
- Verify Normal Style Settings: Right-click "" in the Styles group on the Home tab, choose Modify, and check if "Bold" is selected in the font settings. If it is, uncheck it and save.
- Reset Formatting: Select the text that looks bold, then press Ctrl+Spacebar to reset character formatting and Ctrl+Q to reset paragraph formatting. This should remove any unexpected bold.
- Test in a New Document: Open a new blank document and type some text. If it’s not bold, the issue is likely specific to your current document. If it is bold, it might be a global Word setting.
- Check System Settings: If the problem persists, ensure no system accessibility settings, like high contrast mode, are affecting text appearance.
If these steps don’t work, consider checking for add-ins or contacting Microsoft Support directly for further help, especially if you’re using a recent version of Word in 2025.
