Table of Content does not match page numbers
1. Updating the catalog
Updating manually
Right click on the catalog
Select “Update Domain”
Select “Update Entire Catalog” > OK
Shortcut Update
Select the directory > Press F9 > Select “Update Entire Directory”
2. Check page breaks/section breaks
Ensure page breaks are consecutive
Click “Start” > “Show/Hide Edit Marks” (¶)
Check if there are extra section breaks (↵↵) or page breaks
Remove unnecessary section breaks
To standardize page number formatting
Double-click Footer > Check for consistent page number formatting
Ensure all sections use “Continued from previous section” (check after Layout > Separators > Next page section breaks)
3. Fix heading styles
Check heading level
Ensure all headings use standardized styles such as “Heading 1”, “Heading 2”, etc.
Avoid manually resizing fonts instead of styles
Re-apply styles
Check Heading > Start > Select the correct Heading Style
Update the catalog again (F9)
4. Clear formatting and rebuild the catalog
Clear messy formatting
Select full text (Ctrl + A)
Press Ctrl + Space to clear manual formatting
Re-apply heading styles
Delete old table of contents and reinsert
Delete an existing table of contents
“Citation” > ‘Catalog’ > ”Custom Catalog”
Adjust the settings and click “OK”
5. Check Print/PDF Export Settings
Print Preview Verification
“File” > ”Print”
Check whether the page number is consistent with the table of contents
DF Export Problems
Select “Optimize for Standard” when exporting
Avoid checking “Use bookmarks”
