Table Borders in Word Disappearing

Over the past week or so, the table borders in our company's Word documents are disappearing. I am seeing a lot of posts in message boards around the internet where people are having the same issue. Is this a known bug with a recent update? Even when we go into the table style and modify the style add the borders, they disappear again once the document is closed and reopened.

  • May try on this before Microsoft release the fix:

    1. Apply Borders Manually (Not via Style)
o    Select the table → Table Design → Borders → All Borders.
    2. Save in Compatibility Mode
o    Save the document as .doc (Word 97–2003) or explicitly set compatibility mode.
    3. Disable AutoSave Temporarily
o    If working in OneDrive/SharePoint, turn off AutoSave while editing.
o    Reapply borders, save, then reopen to check persistence.
    4. Use Shading/Cell Backgrounds
o    As a temporary visual workaround, apply cell shading (light gray or color) to mimic borders
