Styles in WORD
Hi Stefan, I can't do that because, if I follow the instructions in your link, both the number and the Chapter name shift. So the whole thing moves to the right while I want the chapter number to remain and the chapter name to move to the right. Best regards to you and thank you.
Could you upload a screen shot which illustrates your setup?
Normally, it should be possible to move just the content that follows the list symbol. That "move" will occur for all items at the same level, though. You can't do it selectively just for one item.
The screen shot below exemplifies how a tab stop is modified for level 1 which consists of the static text "Chapter" plus a dynamic number. The "Add tab stop at" setting decides where the tab stop goes. "Text indent at" is set at the same value to generate a hanging indent with numbering. To display the Multilevel List dialog box, click in the very first list item and then select Home tab > Paragraph group > Multilevel List > Define New Multilevel List.
If you prefer, you can instruct Word to add just a space character after each number in the list level. This must be done using the Multilevel List dialog box though (that dialog has generally more options available compared to the Adjust List Indents dialog box which displays by default for single-leve lists).
