Style separators and export as .pdf
I use Word 365 - with the latest updates.
Interestingly, if I do it the same as you it works. It may be connected that my figures are actually embedded into a table, and so is the respective legend that uses the style separator. Style separators outside of tables work perfectly fine...
In addition, when I export the file as PDF with markups, it also works as it should (but you get all the comments)
I actually found a solution by non-selecting "Export Document Properties" - although I'm not sure if that causes other issues...
Thanks for the follow-up.
I am not seeing an issue with table cells either.
However, it is known that style separators and tables are a bit tricky. For example, you can't easily insert a style separator into a table cell using the Ctrl+Alt+Enter shortcut; you'd have to insert it elsewhere and then copy and paste it into the table.

Indeed, my workaround was to insert a line break, then go back to that line break and use "Ctrl+Alt+Enter" - that actually worked. So I did not need to copy it around

I'm glad it is working now. Sometimes, you just can't explain exactly what was the underlying cause...
