regarding the smart tags
I have a query about the smart tags, I have smart tags in the title page, if I change them in the title page how come they will automatically change throughout the whole document.
I suspect you are referring to the Document Property Content Controls sometimes known as Title Page properties. These are mapped content controls built into Word since Word 2007. They are not "smart tags." They can be very useful.

Smart tags were supported in older versions of Word (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/description-of-the-smart-tags-in-word-eff0db0e-893a-31eb-a3dd-6998307e098f).
Presumably, you are referring to something else. I suspect that Charles assumption is correct: you are referring to the default built-in mapped content controls.
