Read Aloud

Hi All,

I've just gone from Windows 11 to an M4 MacBook Pro. I use the MS Word function 'Read Aloud' to review every document. However, since switching to a Mac, there is only one voice option available. Although a Voice Selection box is present, it offers only one option: Karen.

The voice is so monotone, and it doesn't pause for periods or commas. I have adjusted the reading speed, but it just slowed it down to an equally bad version. I have gone into Spoken Content in the Mac System Settings and changed the voice, but it does not change it in Word.

It worked so much better in Windows 11. Is there a way to get the Read Aloud voice to sound more human, and one that follows punctuation marks, like it did in Windows 11?

I am running Sequoia 15.5.

All the best,

Rob

    Hi Beh,

I now have new voices. But they are all horrible. They are garbled and distorted.

I can't get an answer from the Mac community.

Any further thoughts on why it sounds so bad?

I have a brand new M4 MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.5.

    Best,

    Rob

Check the Word app settings on your Mac to see if there are any other voice options available, then update Word to the latest version!
