"First line" indents every line and photos
- Nov 11, 2025
It is most probably that you have formatted the Normal style so that it has the indent and as a result, that being the default style, results in an indent being applied to other paragraphs.
You should create a new style that has the required indent and use it when you want to create an indented paragraph.

thank you. It has worked well for the text and titles but I need to find a way to stop the indenting of photos.

By default, Word puts images "In line with text" which means that they will be affected by paragraph indents. Verify that the style which is applied to a paragraph in which an image resides does not have an undesired indent.

All of the photos are free-standing and not imbedded in text. Usually centered on a page with a caption. I'm ok with coding the caption style but the photo itself gets indented.
