Linking Table of Contents to Inserted PDF Documents

I have a table of contents but I want to link the first page to a PDF document, then have word automatically create sub-table of contents from the remaining PDF documents. Currently, when I import a PDF as an object, it places the object on a page by itself but I have no way to link the first page of my table of contents to this document ?

Table of Contents

First Page .............1 (link to first page of PDF by having it inserted into word as an object)

--------- sub of table of contents automatically links to second page of PDF document but doesn't have to be inserted

and so forth etc etc as there are multiple PDF documents.

    I'm using Office Professional Plus 2021 and so therefore when I insert a PDF as an object, select the first page in my TOC for example page 1.

    Then I right-click on the selected number 1 which only has an option for "link" rather then as you mentioned "hyperlink". When I select Place in This Document, there are three options;

    Top of the Document
    Headings
    Bookmarks

    Although it doesn't link to the inserted PDF object when I click on the page link in this case page 1 ?

  • Take this:

    • Insert the PDF as an Object:
      • Go to Insert > Object > Create from File and select your PDF file.
    • Create a Hyperlink in the TOC:
      • Highlight the "First Page" entry in your TOC.
      • Right-click and select Hyperlink.
      • Choose Place in This Document and link it to the page where the PDF object is inserted.
