Interactive checkboxes

I want to set up a document with interactive check boxes that I can either check or a person can. I will be sending this document through email to let a client know what documents I require. I am using Word 365. 

I have the developer tab but the box with check mark in it, is not interactive.  I also do not have the design mode, properties or group mode in the developer tab.  (controls)
