Index changes style
When I add an index to my document, it changes the style and font in the body of the document. Any ideas on how I can add an index and format its font without altering anything else in the document?
First, learn to use styles, not Direct Formatting.

Jim_Robison Was the document formatted strictly by the use of Styles? Or, was direct formatting used?
Can you show a before and after screen shot so that we can see the result.
I have attached an example. The first paragraph was formatted with my normal style, which is Cambria in this document. The second paragraph was manually formatted as Times New Roman. I then marked index entries and inserted an index.
In the index, entries that were originally formatted as normal style Cambria were converted to Aptos, but entries originally manually formatted as Times New Roman retained their formatting. I have tried but cannot change the index formatting to all Cambria or all Times New Roman.
The document is over 300 pages and it may contain both Cambria and Times New Roman sections. I can correct this, but I am reluctant to make major changes until I understand what is going on.
