how to remove page numbers from the front of a book section

I was able to insert a new section between the start of my book and the front matter, but couldn't seem to replicate that for leaving out the title, copyright page and another one. I managed to put Roman numerals in the front section, but now have to remove them from the first few pages or the book will look silly.

I'm on deadline today so appreciate any help!

Use a separate section for the pages that should have no page numbers.

    1. Put the cursor at the end of the last page that should be blank.
    2. Go to Layout > Breaks > Section Breaks > Next Page.
    3. Click in the first page after that break, open the header or footer, and turn off Link to Previous.
    4. Delete the page number from this new section.
    5. If the following pages should continue with Roman numerals, insert another Next Page section break before them, turn off Link to Previous, then choose Page Number > Format Page Numbers > Start at and enter i.

If the title page is the only page without a number, Different First Page is enough. For several front-matter pages, section breaks are the safer method. Turn on Home > ¶ so you can see exactly where the breaks are, and make a copy before changing the numbering.
